Every year when we’re down at our timeshare in the Outer Banks, we have game nights. It’s one of the few times we can all get together to play board or other games because my younger daughter lives in Chicago. But when we get to the beach, we play for all we’re worth.
ALWAYS, we play some form of Monopoly (my favorite). I collect all the different kinds (It Monopoly, Gloucester-Opoly, Bridgerton, Wicked, and now Supernatural Monopoly). My daughters have Dungeons & Dragons and Pug-O-Poly! And this year we chose to play the Bridgerton version.

It’s incredibly fun because it’s enough like the original to be familiar, and yet it has its own differences that make it fun and challenging. The money is different–two denominations of coins (paper) 1 and 5 pounds. So immediately it’s easier. And the best thing is the two types of cards. Instead of Community Chest and Chance we have Lady Whistledown and The Ton. Best perhaps is the fact that they are written to sound just like Lady Whistledown and reference things like scandals and matches made or lost. Many of them are similar to the originals (cards that send you to jail, cards that make you pay for any pavilions or estates you own, or cards that award you sums of money). But there are also cards that allow you to trade properties with another player or outright take one of their properties. Those keep the game lively, let me tell you! The tokens are things from the Bridgerton series, like a top hat, a locket, a bee. A very fun take on the original board game.
We also played Telestrations, which is like a blend of Telephone and Pictionary, and is guaranteed to make you laugh. And this year one of my daughters brought a new game, Poetry for Neanderthals.

This game is a sort of blend of Password and 10,000 Dollar Pyramid with a club if you make a mistake. The objective is to get your partner to say a particular word or phrase, but you can only use words of one syllable to do so. The inflatable club is used if you use more than one syllable and the bopping is extremely fun. I really do suggest you play this as it’s a great addition to any game night.
We also played Exploding Minions and a Supernatural themed game, but they paled next to the others. So now I’m waiting patiently for Christmas when we’ll all meet again for a game night.

“I thought it might. You’re awful sweet.” His low, sleepy voice sounded odd under the covers. On the verge of asking if he was well, she lost the thought when he lifted his head from her breast and crushed his lips to hers.
