Jenna’s Snippet Sundays ~ As Long As You’re Mine: Heartfelt Thanks

Welcome back to  Jenna’s Snippet Sundays. In lieu of a blog hop, there’s just me with snippets from my current release or hopefully my next WIP.

Today I’m continuing with another snippet from my most recent release, As Long As You’re Mine. This snippet begins where last week’s left off. (If you need to catch up, last week’s post is here.)

BLURB:

A scandalous mistake…or a wicked way to happiness?

Hoping to compromise herself, Lady Amantha Easton sneaks into the bedroom of her would-be suitor only to find a total stranger there—a totally handsome, charming stranger to be sure—but not at all the man she plans to marry. She leaves his room with her reputation intact—barely—only to fall victim to the gentleman’s charms in a public place. Now Amantha must face the fate she’s tried to avoid—marriage to a man who will never love her.

All Rafael Beauregard wanted was a warm bed and a good night’s sleep…but what he got was an unexpected romp with a beautiful vixen and a fiery kiss that left him wanting more. An excellent trade, except now he’s got to marry Lady Amantha, one of the most willful women he’s ever met. So Rafe’s challenge is to persuade her that marriage to him might be the best thing for them both…once he convinces himself.

EXCERPT:

“This was the room Lady Amantha brought you to, Sara?”

“Yes, my lord. She said Lord Abercrombie had been taken in a bad way.”

“Where is Abercrombie’s room, Armstrong? Perhaps she did make a mistake.”

Amantha sent up a prayer of thanksgiving.

“He’s further up the corridor, on the opposite side.”

“May I go back to bed, uncle? I’m devilishly sleepy.”

“Good night, Rafael. Sorry for the confusion. I will look for you at breakfast.”

“Yes, uncle. Good night.”

The door shut, and bare feet padded back to the bed. “They’re gone. You can come out now.”

With a gigantic gasp, Amantha threw off the pillows and gulped in fresh air.

Mr. Beauregard sat on the end of the bed, grinning at her. “A pretty good performance, if I do say so myself.”

Amantha clambered down off the bed. “I have to admit it was, Mr. Beauregard. Are you indeed an actor? I must applaud you whether you are or not.”

“No, not an actor. An architect.” He gazed at her, his dark eyes registering a deep hunger that made Amantha catch her breath. “But I will take any accolades you wish to give me, Lady Amantha.”

“A heartfelt thank you will have to suffice, I am afraid.” She needed to get out of this room immediately. Something about Mr. Beauregard made her want to give him more—a lot more, in fact—than just thanks. And that would never do. Amantha turned for the door.

“Now they are gone, you could stay, you know.” His feet thudded to the floor as he slid off the bed. “We could continue with our earlier conversation.”

She whirled around to find him directly in front of her and stumbled backward.

Quicker than a pouncing lion, he grabbed her arms and pulled her toward him.

If you don’t want to wait for next week’s continuation, you can grab As Long As You’re Mine on Amazon or in KU.

And fellow author from Weekend Writing Warriors, Carrie Anne Brownian, has put up a snippet from one of her works here. You should go check her out as well, especially if you enjoy historical fiction.
