HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
I’m wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas for those who celebrate it, as well as Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanza, and generally wonderful holidays for everyone!
As a little present to all of my fans, below is a sneak peek at my current WIP–which I’ve been working on for almost a year, due to my unfortunate fall and broken shoulder. However, I am still chugging away at Gem of My Heart (book 5 of my Welwyn Marriage Wager series) and hope to have the whole book in to my editor by the end of February. My goal is to write at least a page a day with the further goal of a chapter a week which should have me finishing it right at the end of February, so cross your fingers!
This excerpt is from Chapter 1 and has not been edited yet, so bear with me on it. But I’d love to have your feedback on what you think of Francis and Gem!

EXCERPT:
The door burst open and Kitty rushed in. “Miss Gem, he’s just turned the corner from Rathbone Street. No carriage, but he’s striding so quick you’d think the devil was after him.”
“Thank you, Kitty. Now stir up the fire so the room won’t be chilly.” Gem rose and hurried to her dressing room, to the jar of vinegar-soaked sponges she kept in a jar. She unscrewed the silver lid, fished out a cup shaped sponge, and quickly inserted it between her legs. After a moment to make sure it was secure, she recapped the jar and sped back to her toilet table, seating herself and automatically pulling the robe down over her shoulders invitingly.
The sound of the front door opening sent a thrill of joy all through Gem’s body. She quite literally lived for the fleeting moments Francis spent with her. She would savor tonight’s rendezvous especially, as she did all their encounters now, for she had no idea how many more there might be.
His insistent tread on the stairs made her turn back to the mirror, applying one more tad of rouge as the footsteps stopped at the door. She continued to swirl the cream on her cheek, blending it until it looked like a natural blush, all too aware of his presence, but pretending ignorance of it.
Francis shifted his weight, and the slight movement made her turn from the mirror, her lips curling into a sincerely welcoming smile. “You are early, my love. I wasn’t expecting you until much later.”
“My brother decided to dally with his new wife so I thought I would take a page from his copy book and come here to you now.” Francis moved to stand behind her, then slipped his hands onto her shoulders and bent to kiss her neck, starting at the sensitive spot beneath her jaw.
As always, the touch of his lips anywhere on her body filled her with a happiness that heated her inside, deep at her core. The longing to be filled by him would have her panting soon enough. He kissed his way down her neck, leaving a blazing trail on her skin that stopped only when he encountered the impediment of her dressing gown.
“I wish you could have been with me at the wedding, Gem.” He nuzzled her neck, his hot breath making her toes curl in anticipation.
“You know that wasn’t possible, my love.” She arched her back and laid her head against his broad chest where it felt so good. Where she belonged.
“It would if you would just agree to marry me.” He parted her robe then continued to scatter kisses down onto her breasts.
“Francis, we have talked about this many times.” She frowned, not wishing to bring this contentious subject up while he was making love to her so sweetly. But she must remind him of his duty. “A man of your breeding marries a virtuous young lady who has family and position and wealth.”
He raised his head and her eyes met his.
“He does not marry his mistress.”
