Welcome back to Jenna’s Snippet Sundays. In lieu of a blog hop, there’s just me with snippets from my current release or hopefully my next WIP.
Sorry for the hiccup last week, but I’m back again with another snippet for you.
Today I’m continuing with another snippet from my most recent release, As Long As You’re Mine. This snippet begins where last week’s left off. (If you need to catch up, last week’s post is here.)

BLURB:
A scandalous mistake…or a wicked way to happiness?
Hoping to compromise herself, Lady Amantha Easton sneaks into the bedroom of her would-be suitor only to find a total stranger there—a totally handsome, charming stranger to be sure—but not at all the man she plans to marry. She leaves his room with her reputation intact—barely—only to fall victim to the gentleman’s charms in a public place. Now Amantha must face the fate she’s tried to avoid—marriage to a man who will never love her.
All Rafael Beauregard wanted was a warm bed and a good night’s sleep…but what he got was an unexpected romp with a beautiful vixen and a fiery kiss that left him wanting more. An excellent trade, except now he’s got to marry Lady Amantha, one of the most willful women he’s ever met. So Rafe’s challenge is to persuade her that marriage to him might be the best thing for them both…once he convinces himself.
EXCERPT:
Someone pounded on the door. “Rafael? What are you doing in there?”
“Get in the bed!” Snatching her up roughly by her arm, Mr. Beauregard hurled her across the top of the bed and tossed the pillows onto her. “Don’t move, and don’t say a word.”
Despite the suffocating position, Amantha pressed her face into the mattress and froze.
The door burst open with a clatter, the thumping of feet on the hardwood floor following directly.
“What the devil is going on here, Rafael?”
“You tell me, uncle.” The sleepy drawl came through clearly. Amantha prayed this man was a decent actor. “I was asleep until you banged on the door.”
“Where is my daughter, sir?” Father sounded angrier than she’d ever heard him. Amantha tensed from habit then slowly made her muscles relax. She must stay calm.
“Not in here, sir, I assure you.”
“Rafael, this is Lord Clarendon. The maid here says his daughter, Lady Amantha Easton, said she was coming in here to check on her cousin.”
“My apologies, my lord, but my answer is the same. The lady is not here.” There was a pause that seemed to last a lifetime. “Perhaps she entered, realized she’d mistaken the room, and left. But I was asleep until just a few minutes ago.”
Mr. Beauregard was a very cool liar. Amantha prayed to God he was a good one as well.
