Jenna’s Snippet Sundays ~ As Long As You’re Mine: “I Rather Think it Would Be Worth It”

Welcome back to what I’ve decided to call Jenna’s Snippet Sundays. In lieu of a blog hop, there’s just me with snippets from my current release or hopefully my next WIP.

Sorry I’m late posting today, but I’ve been crazy busy this past week. I went to New Bern, NC last Sunday to visit my friend who owns the cabin in NY state. She couldn’t get up to the cabin this year, so we met in New Bern instead for a great few days of catching up. Then, as soon as I returned, I was getting ready for the Sexy and Sassy Signing in Richmond, VA, which happened yesterday. I (and my assistant Emily) had a fantastic day, selling books and giving out swag. It was the best signing I’ve ever had and I can’t wait to sign up for next year!

Today, however, I’m continuing with another snippet from my most recent release, As Long As You’re Mine. This snippet begins where last week’s left off. (If you need to catch up, the last week’s post is here.)

BLURB:

A scandalous mistake…or a wicked way to happiness?

Hoping to compromise herself, Lady Amantha Easton sneaks into the bedroom of her would-be suitor only to find a total stranger there—a totally handsome, charming stranger to be sure—but not at all the man she plans to marry. She leaves his room with her reputation intact—barely—only to fall victim to the gentleman’s charms in a public place. Now Amantha must face the fate she’s tried to avoid—marriage to a man who will never love her.

All Rafael Beauregard wanted was a warm bed and a good night’s sleep…but what he got was an unexpected romp with a beautiful vixen and a fiery kiss that left him wanting more. An excellent trade, except now he’s got to marry Lady Amantha, one of the most willful women he’s ever met. So Rafe’s challenge is to persuade her that marriage to him might be the best thing for them both…once he convinces himself.

EXCERPT:

He catapulted up in the bed. “What? Why in God’s name would you do that?”

“As I said, none of your business.” Holding the cover in front of her, Amantha slipped one foot down to the floor. The covers caught, and though she tugged, they resisted coming with her. She might have to just drop to the floor and scramble into the garments.

“It will be my business if I have to marry you because you came into the wrong room.”

That brought Amantha’s head up until she stared into eyes the color of jet. He was right, of course. She had to get out of here now. Forget modesty. She dropped the covers and dove to the floor, swooping down to grab her clothes. With shaking fingers, she searched for the gown’s opening at the hem, trying to ignore the man sitting on the bed. She couldn’t think about him. But she couldn’t forget him. As she raised the gown to slide over her head, her eyes met his again. Admiration and desire mingled in the dark depths.

He flopped back down onto the bed. “I rather think it would be worth

it after all.”

“What?” Fear made her tone sharp. Her robe, where had it gone?

“To have to marry you.”

Amantha jerked her head up to him. “No. Don’t even think I would agree to that.”

“I meant it as a compliment, Lady Amantha.” He stretched on the mattress, and the sheets fell away, revealing his firm, wide chest, the skin rippling over the smooth muscles.

Moments ago, she’d been clasped to that chest and liked it. Liked it a lot. She’d liked everything he’d done to her. “No.”

The word was a whisper of horror. As exasperating as this man was, she instinctively sensed she could never be indifferent to him. Attraction lurked within her even now, knowing the danger. This was the last man on earth she should marry.

If you don’t want to wait for next week’s continuation, you can grab As Long As You’re Mine on Amazon for just .99 through the end of this month.
