Jenna’s Snippet Sundays ~ As Long As You’re Mine: “Who Are You?”

Welcome back to what I’ve decided to call Jenna’s Snippet Sundays. In lieu of a blog hop, there’s just me with snippets from my current release or hopefully my next WIP.

Today I’m continuing with another snippet from my most recent release, As Long As You’re Mine. This snippet begins where last week’s left off. (If you need to catch up, the original post is here.)

BLURB:

A scandalous mistake…or a wicked way to happiness?

Hoping to compromise herself, Lady Amantha Easton sneaks into the bedroom of her would-be suitor only to find a total stranger there—a totally handsome, charming stranger to be sure—but not at all the man she plans to marry. She leaves his room with her reputation intact—barely—only to fall victim to the gentleman’s charms in a public place. Now Amantha must face the fate she’s tried to avoid—marriage to a man who will never love her.

All Rafael Beauregard wanted was a warm bed and a good night’s sleep…but what he got was an unexpected romp with a beautiful vixen and a fiery kiss that left him wanting more. An excellent trade, except now he’s got to marry Lady Amantha, one of the most willful women he’s ever met. So Rafe’s challenge is to persuade her that marriage to him might be the best thing for them both…once he convinces himself.

EXCERPT:

His frank gaze kept straying from her face down to—

“Oh, God!” she shrieked, pulling the covers up over her naked body. This man had seen her naked. He’d touched her naked breasts. And she didn’t even know who he was. “Who…who are you? What are you doing in this room?”

“I’m Rafael Beauregard, Lord Armstrong’s nephew. This is my room.” His voice had taken on that patronizing tone people have when dealing with children…or fools. “Who are you?”

Amantha opened her mouth then abruptly shut it. Maybe it would be better if he didn’t know her name. But he’d seen her face. Seen much more than her face. Heat bloomed in her cheeks. Oh, but she was good and truly ruined. What did a name matter? “Lady Amantha Easton.”

“What are you doing in this room, Lady Amantha?” A hint of laughter in those words made her straighten her spine.

“None of your business, sir.” She had to get out of here. Maybe if no one saw her leave, and this odious man kept his mouth shut, she could pretend nothing had happened, and no one would be the wiser. Except her father might walk through that door at any second. “I have to get out of here.”

“Not necessarily, Lady Amantha.” The wretch lay down on the mattress, propped up on one elbow, and gave her a lecherous look. “We could continue with what we were doing. See where it leads us.”

“My father is on his way to this room this minute.” Amantha glanced down, locating her nightgown and robe on the floor. If she slid backwards off the bed…

“How do you know he’s on his way here?” His voice had taken on a playful tone.

“Because I sent the maid for him.”
