For my Six Sentence Sunday post today, I’m continuing from yesterday’s post with six sentences from The Present, from my Christmas collection, All Wrapped Up.

At this point, Tessa is being forced to dump her sister’s boyfriend—on Christmas Eve. She’s had a little liquid courage when Hal appears. The first speaker is Hal.
The puzzled frown on his face made Tess’s stomach churn. “I told her I’d come right over after my flight got in and we could catch the end of her office party.”
Swift and painless, like a surgeon. “She went without you, Hal. She said to tell you she didn’t think it would work out between you two.” God, she could barely say the words—what must it be like to hear them?

I backed up and read yesterday’s post. But even without reading that (well done, btw), today’s six told us so much about these sisters. Love how you showed Tess’ thoughts in the last sentence. Great six!

Her understanding that it’s a rotten thing to do to the guy really tells the reader a lot about her personality. She’s a good person. I loved this story.
