Six Sentence Sunday 8/7–As Long As You’re Mine

Welcome back to Six Sentence Sunday.  My thanks again to those who visit me every week and those who are visiting for the first time.  I do appreciate comments so please, let me know what you think of my six.

I do want to let my Six Sentence Sunday readers to know, if you don’t already, that my contemporary romance Almost Perfect has been accepted by Decadent Publishing for their 1Night Stand series!  I had an excerpt of it up on the blog a few days ago under an UPDATE post.  I invite you to check it out to see the story’s beginning.

This week, as promised, we see Rafe and Samantha’s meeting, or actually her first good view of him, from her POV.  Quite a different experience!  Enjoy!

When Samantha saw the tall, dark-haired young man heading towards her and her hostess, her first thought was relief that she was not going to have to marry a troll.  Rafael Beauregard was a handsome man she had to admit, though she was equally sure that he would never in a hundred years have been a man she would have chosen to marry.  The dark brows above equally dark eyes had an arch to them as he crossed the room, a sign she gauged to be a propensity towards mischief.

I bet he’s turned some heads. Samantha eyed his easy gait and broad smile.  Just arrogant enough to tempt a woman to. . . her thought broke off and her face grew hot as she recalled vividly what that mouth had done to her in the night.

Those memories would make anyone blush!  Hope you enjoyed these six from As Long As You’re Mine. Next week we’ll probably have a little more of this meeting, before I send the novel out into the world to make its way.

For more great snippets please go to Six Sentence Sunday.  Or join in the fun next week with six of your own.

Remember!  Today is the last day to enjoy my  “Christmas in July” free reads.  They are available under the Christmas in July page through tonight.

And if you liked my six, perhaps you’d like some of my published work as well.  Heart of Deception, is available for purchase from Books To Go Now!, and Hog Wild from New Dawning International Bookfair.  Both are available from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and All Romance Ebooks.

Sweet Saturday Sample–8/6 Only Scandal Will Do

Welcome back to Sweet Saturday Sample.  Thank you very much to those of you who are coming back again this week from the premiere of Sweet last weekend.  And a big Hello and Welcome to new folks sampling for the first time today.  This blog tour is similar in nature to Six Sentence Sunday if you’re familiar with that.  We post an excerpt of our work–published or WIP–that’s no higher in heat level than PG-13 for your enjoyment.

Sweet Saturday Sample proved a wonderful talisman for me:  the story I put up last week —Almost Perfect–was accepted for publication this past week in Decadent Publishing’s 1Night Stand series! This week I’m going to try to keep that ball rolling and post from my Georgian historical novel Only Scandal Will Do, which is also out with an editor and an agent.  Again, this is the opening scene, so you won’t need any set-up!  Please enjoy!

London, 1761

“Put her back in the carriage, now!”

Her assailant’s gravelly voice sent a shiver of fear through Lady Katarina Fitzwilliam.  Violent hands seized and tossed her back into the carriage.

Now she was gagged, hands pinioned behind her back and ankles bound together.  Trussed like a Christmas goose, she could only lie in a cramped bundle on the hard plank floor of the dim carriage, her diaphanous Grecian costume in ruins, and scheme how to get out of this predicament.  The horses jerked forward and the uneven cobblestones of the London streets jounced her already aching body.

All because I was bored.  Doggedly, Katarina tested the bonds securing her hands, strained against the coarse rope then relaxed, seeking play in the cords.  There was none.  She muttered a curse and forced her whole body to relax.  Tension would never free her.  Rough and tumble games growing up with Jack had taught her that.

Jack!  God, where is he?  Is he alive or . . . She had heard one muted cry when they were attacked, then nothing.  If her brother were dead it would be her fault.  Because she was bored.

She pulled and twisted her wrists.  If we had stayed in Virginia we would have been better off.  London was far wilder than she would have believed; although she had heard of women being abducted by highwaymen she had thought them only tales.  Until now.

But Jack had inherited a title, forcing them to come to London.  The year of mourning for their father was not quite over, so Great-Aunt Harriet had taken command of what little social life Katarina was allowed.  For the past month she had been stuck all day with strong tea and inane gossip about people she did not know.  Finally, she rebelled and forced Jack to escort her to a masquerade ball at seven this evening, ironically attired as Athena, goddess of war.

A particularly nasty rut jarred the carriage.  What wouldn’t she give for Athena’s armor at this moment, or at least her spear.  She had to admit, though, she had gotten her wish.  She wasn’t bored now.

I think Kat’s in for a bumpy night!  In more ways than one.

Thanks again for visiting me for some Sweets.  Come back next week for another “Sweet Sample” or join in the fun with your own.  Follow this link to Sweet Saturday Sample to find more “sweet” offerings.

If you liked the above sample, you might also like some of my published work.  Heart of Deception, set in Victorian England, is available at Books to Go NowHog Wild, an erotic contemporary retelling of The Three Little Pigs, is available at New Dawning Bookfair.  And both are available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and All Romance Ebooks.  Blurbs for both books can be found on my Published Works page.

UPDATE: Almost Perfect Accepted by Decadent Publishing

Since today was Readers Corner, I didn’t think you’d mind an update on the author in question.

Earlier today  I received an email from Decadent Publishing offering me a contract on my contemporary romance Almost Perfect for their 1Night Stand series.   The series’ premise is that 1Night Stand is an exclusive online dating service that matches people with the  perfect person for them for a one night encounter.  And Madame Eve, the owner of the service, can do wonders with her matchmaking abilities–from alien encounters, to time-travel, to shapeshifters–nothing is too far out, if it leads to a HEA!

In Almost Perfect, Pam Kimball wants a 1Night Stand fantasy adventure to jump-start her life, put a new man in her bed, and make her forget her ex-husband Roger.  Her Pirates of the Caribbean themed request seems like a dream come true for Pam, a die-hard movie fan, until she ends up abandoned on a deserted island…well, not quite deserted.

If you’d like a little sample of  Almost Perfect, below is the excerpt I posted last week for Sweet Saturday Sample.  The excerpt is rated G, the book, however, tends a bit more towards an R rating!

“Happy birthday to me.”

Pamela Kimball stowed a pair of cute Donna Karan shorts in her Louie Vuitton bag.

“Happy birthday to me.”  She added a moss-green brushed cotton top.

“Happy birthday, dear Pamela.”  A midnight blue babydoll nightgown with peek-a-boo cups came next.  Thank God she had the figure to do it justice.   Pam laid the scrap of filmy lace on top of her clothes.

“Happy birthday to me.”  She added a pair of white satin mules—the maribou ripped off and replaced with rhinestones—and zipped the bag shut.

Two years after her divorce she was finally getting on with her life.  Hence the nightgown.

She picked up the printed email from Madame Eve, a reservation printout from the Castillo Resort in Miami, and the Chariots For Hire confirmation.  She glanced at the latter and opened her cell phone.  “This is Pamela Kimball.  I reserved a limo to take me to Dulles for an 8:00 am flight.”  In three hours the magic would begin.

I hope that little snippet whetted your appetite for more of Almost Perfect.  Not sure when this will be released, but I’ll let you know as soon as I get my cover art, which should be the next part of the process.  In the meantime, below are several covers for already existing 1Night Stand romances (or soon to be released ones).  You might want to check them out as well!

This is all for my update, but I should be posting again by the weekend for Sweet Saturday Sample and Six Sentence Sunday.  Hope you join me!

Reviewed by Jenna–“Getting Naked”: Naked Research by Dee Dawning

Talk about inspiration!

Dee Dawning’s Naked Research, a scorching hot ménage-a-trois, was the first erotic romance I ever read—and the quickest!  But that’s because I simply couldn’t put it down.  I bet you won’t either.

Rebecca Roth is on a mission:  find men to have sex with.  This shouldn’t be a problem for a bold, attractive, sexy writer of erotic romance.  Except she needs two lovers at the same time.  Her next novel is a ménage a trois and, as Rebecca only writes from her own sexual experience and she’s never done it with multiple partners,  she finds herself having to do “naked research.”  Enter Kevin, whom she picks up at a bar, and Vince, his roommate who has no problem sharing.  They are gorgeous men, with bedroom skills that drive Rebecca wild with delight and multiple orgasms.  But she’s made it clear this is a one-night stand—she refuses to get involved, to put her heart in jeopardy again, especially with two men she’s come to care for in just one night.  But when an unforeseen problem arises with her writing, Rebecca must decide whether she can return to them for more “research” without getting her heart broken.

All the elements of a great erotic romance come together in Naked Research.  The plot is fun and well developed, with several unexpected twists to keep you turning pages.  The characters come to life immediately, sympathetic and sensual.  With men who are hot, hunky, and intelligent—Kevin’s a literary agent, Vince an architect—and a heroine who is strong-willed and sexy, yet vulnerable, the book promises to more than satisfy the reader’s sexual fantasies.

And did I mention the smokin’ hot sex?  These scenes are so steaming they will make you reach for your significant other or run for a cold shower.  I’m heating up now just remembering them.

This book did, in fact, inspire me—not to do “research” of my own, but to write an erotic romance.  Perhaps it will inspire you as well, in…other ways.  Regardless, you will not be disappointed if you indulge in some Naked Research.

Dee Dawning’s Naked Research is available at Siren Publishing, and through Amazon and Barnes and Noble.  For a full list of Dee’s many fun, sexy and erotic reads, check out his website.

Six Sentence Sunday 7/31–As Long As You’re Mine

Welcome back to Six Sentence Sunday.  My thanks again to those who visit me every week and those who are visiting for the first time.  I do appreciate comments so please, let me know what you think of my six.

This week I thought I would move us forward a bit and let you see Rafael and Samantha’s “official” first meeting, from Rafe’s POV. Enjoy!

“Aunt Beatrice, would you introduce me to your charming guest?”  He motioned to Samantha, whose jaw dropped at his audacity.  “We have not been formally introduced.”

“Rafael!”  Beatrice blushed in earnest now, apparently embarrassed at the thought of what had transpired under her roof last night.

Rafe just stood there, innocent eyes on her until she shook her head at her nephew and turned to Samantha.  “Lady Samantha Easterling may I introduce my devil of a nephew, Rafael Clements Beauregard of Richmond, Virginia.

I think Aunt Beatrice has him pegged right!  Hope you enjoyed these six from As Long As You’re Mine. Next week we’ll see this meeting from Samantha’s POV.

For more great snippets please go to Six Sentence Sunday.  Or join in the fun next week with six of your own.

If you’d like to see more of my work, check out my previous posts under “Christmas in July” and enjoy three free reads.

And remember  Heart of Deception, is available for purchase from Books To Go Now!, and Hog Wild from New Dawning International Bookfair.  Both are available from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and All Romance Ebooks.

Sweet Saturday Sample

Good Morning!  Welcome to the very first ever Sweet Saturday Sample.  This blog tour is similar in nature to Six Sentence Sunday if you’re familiar with that.  We post an excerpt of our work–published or WIP–that’s no higher in heat level than PG-13 for your enjoyment.

This week I’m posting from a short story I just finished called Almost Perfect.  This is the opening, so you don’t need any set-up!  Please enjoy!

“Happy birthday to me.”

Pamela Kimball stowed away a pair of cute moss green floral shorts in her oversized Louie Vuitton rolling bag.

“Happy birthday to me.”  She added a top with a contrasting diamond design on brushed Indian cotton.

“Happy 27th birthday, dear Pamela.”  A midnight blue peek-a-boo nightgown came next.  Thank God she had the figure to do this justice.  The filmy gown attached to cups slit up the center and fastened in the middle with a white diamond-like jewel.  Her nipples did indeed play peek-a-boo when she tried on the confection with the matching jeweled G-string.  Pamela laid the scrap of mesh lace on top of her clothes.

“Happy birthday to me.”  She added a pair of white satin mules—she had ripped the maribou off and replaced it with rhinestone jewels—and zipped the bag shut.

Two years after her divorce she was finally getting on with her life.  Hence the nightgown.

Wonder what she’s gonna do with that nightgown?  LOL

Blurbs for both book can be found on my Published Works page.
