Hot and Wild for Horny Hump Day 5/09/12

WARNING:  MATERIAL NOT SUITABLE FOR THOSE UNDER THE AGE OF 18!

NOT SAFE FOR WORK!

Participating authors in Horny Hump Day post three sentences from their published works or WIP, hot enough to steam your contacts! Just watch me try! LOL

When Lula Wolfendale’s motorcycle breaks down on her way to a Harley rally, she detours into tiny Shoshone, CA to find a new ride.  Seducing bikers Beau and Rob Hogue and commandeering their Harleys is easy; finding sexual satisfaction is a “hog” of a different color.  A Blue Phantom, to be exact, owned by the pair’s older brother, Jesse.  After brief, unsatisfying encounters with the first two Hogues, Lula approaches Jesse with a proposition:  a sexual contest for his Phantom, where Lula will emerge with either a bike to die for or the climax of her dreams.  Or can she possibly obtain both?

Here’s part of Lula’s encounter with Beau:

Beau raised his head just in time to see her long, pink tongue emerge from between blood red lips. Starting at the thick root of his cock, it continued sliding aloft in one single, sensuous lick, ending at the crown. Her mouth engulfed the tip and tugged upward, leaving bright red streaks on his taut skin.

And this ought to make your Happy Horny Hump Day:  if you’re ready for some more Hog Wild hotness, go to Amazon and download your own copy for free!  It’s free at Amazon today and tomorrow.  So what are you waiting for, a cold shower? LOL  And don’t forget your comments!

Kicking Off The Almost Perfect Read For A Cure BlogTour

Happy Monday, folks!  I know I announced the tour last week, but this is the Official Kickoff with the Official Banner for the Tour.  I’m going to be blogging all over the place because Marissa Dobson at Sizzling PR has done a fantastic job of putting this tour together in a very short time.  I’ve got 14 stops during the month, plus 9 others I’ve gotten on my own.

Overkill?  Maybe.  But the cause–Relay For Life–is too good, too important for me to give anything other than my best shot to bring in donations.  Remember, all of Decadent Publishing’s proceeds from sales of Almost Perfect during the month of May will go to Relay For Life.  And I will be donating a percentage of my proceeds as well.  I haven’t set an amount yet, but the higher my sales, the higher my percentage will be.

So today I’m kicking off my blog tour for Almost Perfect and Read For A Cure with a Double Shot:

I’m at Sarah Ballance’s blog drinking coffee and talking about Memorable Meetings and at Cera DuBois’ talking about second chances and giving away a copy of my erotic contemporary Hog Wild.

And the fun doesn’t end there!  I’m also at Ella Quinn’s Blog tomorrow talking about Pirates and Romance, being interviewed by Christine Warner on Wednesday,  generating romance titles at Carrie Ann Ryan’s blog on Thursday, and on the Inkslinger’s Blog for my monthly post on Friday, I’ll be talking  about Good Luck Charms.

I hope you’ll be able to come by some of these stops during the month and check out my posts.  I’m having a blast trying to come up with creative topics that have some good info and a bit of fun into the bargain.

And today, on this blog, leave me a comment with a suggestion for either a blog post topic or another way to promote Read For A Cure this month and my favorite comment will receive a $5.00 Amazon Gift Card.  So put on your thinking caps!

Remember: Read For A Cure and help close the book on cancer.

See Post for May 1st For Details

Welcome back to Six Sentence Sunday!

Another snippet from Only Scandal Will Do. I’m still in a teasing mood!  May I whet your appetite further? LOL

The masked man has purchased a woman in a brothel auction and has come to claim his prize.  His “slave” however, continues to insist there has been a mistake.  He has managed to turn the tables on the “lady” and call her virtue into question.  While evading the man’s advances, they discover a missing bit of vital information that seems turn the tide of his opinion of her.  Then, in a moment of weakness, Katarina lets down her guard and things begin to heat up. She was reveling in a scorching kiss from the stranger who is bent on taking further liberties when reality crashes back, safe haven becoming a trap she too easily falls into.  She makes a last-ditch attempt to free herself.

“But I see you are still reluctant. Come, let me help you forget your troubles once more.”

With a cry of “Nooooo,”  she scrambled off the bed, making for the door, praying wildly that it was unlocked.  He snared her in one arm, pulled her back to the bed and threw himself down on her.

“You are the most spirited lady I have ever had the pleasure of seducing,” he said, gathering her into his arms. “If I wasn’t afraid of yet another scandal, my dear, I would set you up as my mistress and we could play these delicious games to our hearts’ delight.”

My Sweet Saturday Sample and Six Sentence Sunday posts from January through April here at on my blog can catch you up to what’s been going on in the story.  Be sure to come back next week for another six sentence installment on SSS.

Thanks once more for visiting Six Sentence Sunday.  Click the SSS to try out more author snippets.  I bet you’ll enjoy yourself!

Sweet Saturday Sample–5/05 Only Marriage Will Do

Welcome back to Sweet Saturday Sample!  All excerpts here are rated PG-13 or milder. Here’s another post from the second book in my House of Pleasure series, Only Marriage Will Do,  set in Georgian London.

I’m working on finishing 7 Days of Seduction to send to the publisher this weekend.  Not a book you will see excerpted here. LOL

In Only Marriage Will Do, there seems to be a little mystery afoot.  Amiable has stepped in to rescue a damsel in distress and to his amazement the damsel–who he’s never seen before–is calling him husband and introducing him as the Earl of Manning (who, if you may recall, is Katarina’s brother from Only Scandal Will Do and a friend of Amiable’s).  Amiable is a tad confused,  but gamely carries on with the subterfuge.  He too is interested in why her suitor claims she is his wife and seeks a more thorough explanation.  St. Cyr has just asserted that Juliet is married to him and no one else.

Blood roared in Amiable’s ears, as though he was in the heat of battle. He dropped his hand to his hilt and started toward St. Cyr, who backed hastily for the door.  “This is not the end of this, Juliet.  I will return with the papers and make you see reason,” he called, returning to English again.  With that parting shot, the viscount turned and fled the room.  Moments later the front door slammed shut.

A little watery sigh behind him caused Amiable to turn toward Juliet.  “My dear. . . “  Amiable got no further. Juliet dissolved into frantic weeping, tears cascading down her cheeks at an alarming rate.  He was by her in a moment, his arm around her shoulders drawing her to him as he guided her to the sofa and sat her down.  He fished a handkerchief out of his pocket and handed it to her, then urged her head onto his shoulder.  She complied without resistance and simply abandoned herself to sobbing.

Some minutes later she seemed to recall herself.  The crying lessened into little hitching sobs and when she realized where her head lay she sat up abruptly and looked at Amiable, wide eyed.  “Oh!  I beg your pardon, sir.”  She drew a little away from him, her cheeks rosy in embarrassment.

Amiable smiled reassuringly at her agitation.  “Not at all, my lady.  It is ‘my lady’ I assume?”

“Oh, yes!  Of course, you don’t know who I am, do you?”  She smiled in spite of herself, wiping at her tears.  “I am Lady Juliet Ferrars.  And I am so grateful to you, Mr.. . er. . .Lord?”  She paused, quite at a loss.

“Captain Amiable Dawson, at your service.” Amiable inclined his head.  “Then you are not married to Jack Fitzwilliam, er, the Earl of Manning?”

“Oh, no, Captain Dawson.  Jack is my brother-in-law.  I used his name merely as a ruse to throw Philippe off balance.  I am so grateful that you came to my rescue just now.” Her eyes glowed with admiration.  “Just like a knight in shining armor, don’t you think?  Only not really in armor.  Except for the sword.  Would you really have called Philippe out?”

“Do you doubt it, my lady?” He stared into dark, sinfully intoxicating eyes.

“Well, you did look as though you wanted to kill him at one point.  So did I when he brought up the Christmas ball.”  Juliet colored again at the thought.

“I should have enjoyed removing his tongue after that little indiscretion.  But what he said, Lady Juliet, about being married to him.  Is it true?”  Amiable decided he should at least find out that much.  And then he must ask for Katarina.  She was the damsel in distress he had actually come to rescue.

“Absolutely not, Captain Dawson.  I am convinced Philippe is lying about our marriage.  He would never go against the wishes of his father and his father no longer wished us to wed.  Philippe would have cut out his own tongue before disobeying the Count de Mallain.”  Juliet was vehement enough that Amiable believed her.  At least believed that she believed it was true.

So Juliet may not be out of the woods yet!

Hope you enjoyed a little more of Only Marriage Will Do.  Stop by SSS tomorrow for more from Only Scandal Will Do.  And today be sure to click here to visit more Sweet Samples.

Also, if you have a chance, come on over to the Daily Dose of Decadence Blog where you can meet the hero of Almost Perfect, Roger Ware, up close and personal.  Hope to see you there!

What Doesn’t Kill You–A Playlist For Rejection

What do you do when you get a rejection?  Any type of rejection, really, though I’m thinking about those related to writing.  And in the writing profession there are all kinds of situations where we are made to think we should just pack it in, call it a day, and move on to some other type of business.

For the past two weeks, ever since Friday the 13th, I’ve had a series of unfortunate events that have gotten me down.  The date for the release of my first novel was pushed back, I received the news I did not advance to finals in two writing contests and got a bag of mixed scores, and my latest round of queries for an historical romance continues to garner no responses (not even rejections).  I got my hair cut really short so I couldn’t pull it out.

And what I have found myself doing in the face of all this bad juju, is listening to a series of songs, either on satellite radio or via YouTube, that actually help a lot to dispel the feeling of unworthiness  I’ve been experiencing (and that I’m sure we all feel after receiving a rejection).  So I’ve developed a sort of playlist for rejection–a series of songs that really lifts my spirits.  Some are there because of the lyrics, some because of the wonderful upbeat of the song, some have both.

Firework by Katy Perry is the first one and the lyrics to this song have a wonderful, uplifting message.  “You don’t have to feel/Like a waste of space/You’re original cannot b replaced/If you only knew what the future holds/After a hurricane comes a rainbow/Maybe the reason why all the doors are closed/So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road.”

What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction.  I love this song!  It reminds me of a CPs novel, but the up beat and some of the lyrics always make me smile and sing along in the car.  “You’re insecure/Don’t know what for/You’re turning heads when you walk through the door/Don’t need make-up to cover-up/Being the way that you are is enough.”  And “If only you saw what I can see/You’ll understand why I want you so desperately/I’m looking at you and I can’t believe/You don’t know oh-oh/You don’t know you’re beautiful.”

Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You) by Kelly Clarkson.  Great new song to chase away the blues.  The old adage is certainly true, and this new version, with the fantastic upbeat, makes you feel stronger just hearing it.  “You think you’ve got the best of me/Think you got the last laugh/Bet you think that everything good is gone/Think you left me broken down/Think that I’ll come running back/Baby you don’t know me, cause you’re dead wrong/What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger/Stand a little taller/doesn’t mean I’m lonely when I’m alone/What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, stronger/Just me, myself and I.”

Loser Like Me by Glee.  The number one song that makes me feel like there is hope at the end of the tunnel.  The video just exudes confidence, gives you the idea that these “losers” won’t be losers for long, because they have the drive to make it. “Just go ahead and hate on me and run your mouth/So everyone can hear/Hit me with the worst you got and knock me down/Baby, I don’t care/Keep it up and soon enough you’ll figure out/ You wanna be/ lose like me.”

Well, I’m psyched! Ready to go out and face those agents and editors (I’m pitching at a conference this evening!)  So, tell me, how do you deal with rejection?

An Almost Perfect Horny Hump Day 5/02/12

WARNING:  MATERIAL NOT SUITABLE FOR THOSE UNDER THE AGE OF 18!

NOT SAFE FOR WORK!

Participating authors in Horny Hump Day post three sentences from their published works or WIP, hot enough to sizzle on the sidewalk! LOL

This month I’m switching gears and giving you some hot sentences from an almost island paradise in my erotic contemporary novella, Almost Perfect.  I’m showcasing Almost Perfect all over the internet because it’s Decadent Publishing’s Read For A Cure book for May.   For more details, see my post from yesterday.  Read a book, fight a disease.

Pamela Kimball’s birthday present, a 1Night Stand adventure, promises to jump-start her life, put a new man in her bed, and help her forget her past.  Unfortunately, movie-buff Pam’s Pirates of the Caribbean fantasy takes an alarming wrong turn when she’s abandoned on a not quite deserted island—with ex-husband Roger Ware.

Forced by hunger to accept Roger’s offer of dinner,  Pam realizes the geek she married has transformed into one of the most charming, sexiest men she’s ever met. His newfound confidence—and hot body—re-kindle old fires.  A simple kiss leads Roger to challenges her to discover how much his lovemaking skills have improved, leaving Pam torn between self-preservation and burning desire.

With time running out before they’re rescued, Pam must decide if her heart can survive the consequences of becoming Roger’s “almost” perfect 1Night Stand.

Dazed with desire, she leaned back as he untied his pants. In another liquid movement, he slid them over slim hips so his engorged cock sprang free. She watched it bob before her and her ache doubled.

I hope your own Horny Hump Day is just as happy!  And I love your comments! so let me know if the days are getting better!

Please check out the Horny Hump Day blog site for the other sites on the hop and go visit the other hot authors.  Quick before your mouse melts!   The site also gives the details of how to sign up for next week if you’d like to play with us. 🙂

Thanks so much for visiting the Journal once more for Horny Hump Day.

Almost Perfect is Read For A Cure Book for May

“Tra-la, it’s May/The lusty month of May”

That song from the musical Camelot always pops into my head this time of year.  Especially this year when May is an extra special month because my (lusty) erotic contemporary novella, Almost Perfect, is Decadent Publishing’s Read For A Cure book! *fanfare*

For the entire month of May, Decadent will donate all its proceeds for Almost Perfect to Relay for Life.  So when you buy a copy, you are helping fight cancer.  How neat is that?

Because this cause is dear to my heart (my cousin is a breast cancer survivor), I will also be making a donation to Relay For Life.  If you’d like to read more about Decadent’s committment to this cause, click the link above.

Remember, summer is fast approaching and Almost Perfect is the perfect summer read at the beach.  It’s set on a deserted island in the Caribbean–think Johnny Depp and rum–and includes everything a hot romance should have–a hot guy, a sassy girl, and sex on the beach!  Oops, that’s for later. LOL  Here’s the blurb and an excerpt from Almost Perfect, just to get you in the mood.  After the excerpt, I’ll give you the buy links, so you can help fight cancer and get a great summer read with one click of your mouse!

 Blurb for Almost Perfect:

Pamela Kimball’s birthday present, a 1Night Stand adventure, promises to jump-start her life, put a new man in her bed, and help her forget her past.  Unfortunately, movie-buff Pam’s Pirates of the Caribbean fantasy takes an alarming wrong turn when she’s abandoned on a not quite deserted island—with ex-husband Roger Ware.

Forced by hunger to accept Roger’s offer of dinner,  Pam realizes the geek she married has transformed into one of the most charming, sexiest men she’s ever met. His newfound confidence—and hot body—re-kindles old fires.  A simple kiss leads Roger to challenge her to discover how much his lovemaking skills have improved, leaving Pam torn between self-preservation and burning desire.

With time running out before they’re rescued, Pam must decide if her heart can survive the consequences of becoming Roger’s “almost” perfect 1Night Stand.

Excerpt from Almost Perfect:

She inched into the lapping surf, searching for movement. Reflection off the water made this task harder than expected. Wasn’t the Caribbean supposed to be teeming with fish?  Now that’s something she’d had a lot of instruction in. Almost every marooned-on-an-island movie had a scene where the heroine learned to catch fish. Six Days, Father Goose, Blue Lagoon. All you needed was your hands and patience. She could do this.

Pam waded out further then stopped just before the water hit her now dry shorts. “Not gonna to have a damp crotch all night.” The words reminded her of exactly what she had hoped for tonight. “But not from wet shorts!” She headed back to shore to remove and drape them next to her shirt. The bandeau was a different story. Still damp, even after several hours, and uncomfortable. Might dry better if not next to her skin anyway. “Screw it!  Live dangerously.”

Standing as good as naked on the deserted beach, Pam smiled as the warm breeze caressed her bare body. The sense of being slightly naughty added to her delight in the sensual feel of the air as it dried her breasts. Her nipples peaked as the wind cooled them. She strutted down to the water’s edge to sink her toes in the sand, the salty tang in the air adding to the perfect moment.

“If you’re skinny dipping, you forgot to remove one very important piece of clothing.”

Pam whirled around. Roger stood on the beach behind her, a green bottle of Perrier in one hand. His gaze played up and down her naked torso and his salacious grin widened. “Mind if I join you?”

To purchase a copy of Almost Perfect, visit any one of these sites:  Decadent Publishing, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, All Romance Ebooks (plus the other most popular e-vendors).  All book purchases count, regardless of vendor.  The one stipulation is that it is purchased May 1-31, 2012.  Again, thank you for your generosity and helping us Read For A Cure.

On a completely unrelated topic–today on Heartthrob Haven, I’m interviewing my hero, Duncan, the Marquess of Dalbury, from Only Scandal Will Do.  Come by and meet the marquess if you have a spare minute or two.  He comes by his rake’s reputation quite honestly. 🙂

Ravishing Details: Lia Davis & Friends from Ravished Before Sunrise Tell All

Happy Monday!  I have the great pleasure today of introducing you to a great writer whose debut novella, Ravished Before Sunrise, will be released tomorrow from Decadent Publishing!  Lia, it’s so wonderful to have you here on the Journal to celebrate your release.  Thank you for coming and for bringing your…friends.  The more the merrier.  *eyes Darien and Emalee hesitantly*

I’ll jump right in Lia. What was your inspiration for this story?

Hi, Jenna. Thanks for having us over today. I started out wanting to write a vampire series, but I haven’t nailed my world down quite the way I want. When I heard about the 1Night Stand series and read some of the stories, I had to see if writing one was as fun as reading them. And it was! And I’m going to do it again.

Good for you!  I had a blast writing mine.  I do love creating character names. Are the character names in Ravished Before Sunrise special in any way?

Not particularly. I had Emalee picked out a while back and didn’t know what to do with her until I decided to write Ravished Before Sunrise. And Darian just fit my vision of him.

*darts glance at Darian*  I can quite see that.  Uh, Darian, how difficult is it to juggle your vampire life with running a company?  I mean, do your employees know they’re working for someone who’s…undead?  Do you have rules about not drinking employee’s blood?  Do you only work at night?

*He chuckles* We aren’t undead as most believe. Vampires are a subspecies of demons, a cousin to the incubi and succubi. And yes, the employees who work closest to me know what I am. They are told upon accepting the job. If they are uncomfortable with me being a vampire, their memory is altered and they are relocated to another office.

I don’t feed off unwilling humans, ever. And never at the office. Now that I have my Ema, I don’t need to hunt either. *he lifts Ema’s hand to his mouth and places a soft kiss in her palm*

Being the boss gives me more freedom, but working during the day doesn’t bother me as long as I stay out of direct sunlight. Our skin is sensitive, but it doesn’t burst into flames.

Oh.  That’s a good thing, right?  Gives you more flammability…I mean, flexibility.  *blushes.  turns to Emalee* Well, then, Emalee.  How did you come to find out about the 1Night Stand service?  What led you to seek such a service?  And were you pleased with the results?

My best friend told me about 1Night Stand. I have no idea where she heard about it, nor did I care at the moment. *she laughs* I had to move into the local witch coven because I’m not fully human and can’t draw too much attention to myself. Well at least before meeting Darian.

*Darian wraps an arm around her shoulders and pulls her closer to him*

I am very pleased with the results.

*raises eyebrows*  So I see.  Now, Lia, who has been the greatest influence on your writing?

My critique group and writing partner are big influences in my writing. I have learned so much from them and get awesome support.

Yes, CPs are the best!  *shuffles her notecards*  Uh, Darian, I noticed in my notes that you have a daughter.  So, you’ve been married before?  Can you tell us a little about your daughter?

Yes, Katrina is my natural daughter from my late wife, Alexis.  She’s the VP of Wyman Enterprises and keeps everyone in line, including me. She also is the reason I have Ema.

So the whole situation was quite a family affair!  It’s nice when everyone gets along.  And sort of on that note, Emalee, what qualities do you find most attractive in a man and why?

Oh, I like everything about a man. But the most attractive thing is his eyes. They tell you so much about the man inside.

They do indeed.  *glances into Darian’s eyes.  can’t look away.  finally he blinks and she snaps out of it.  shakes her head*  Definitely the most arresting feature.  *shakes herself*  Now I have some questions for all three of you to answer.

What is the most exciting/daredevil thing you’ve ever done?

Lia: The most exciting was when my son was born.

Ema: Signing up for a one-night stand.

Darian: You don’t want to know. Besides I’d rather leave the past where it belongs.

*gulps*  If you could have one wish granted just for you (not world peace, LOL), what would you wish for?

Lia: To be able to stay at home fulltime. I’m working on it. *wink*

Ema: I got my wish. *kisses Darian*

Darian: Yep, me too. *hugs Ema tight*

*sigh* And now for the most important question:  boxers, briefs, or commando?

Lia: Boxer briefs

Ema: Depends on my mood, but mostly commando.

Darian: Which ever my love is in the mood for.

*clears throat*  Thank you so much, Lia, Darian and Emalee, for taking time out of your busy schedule to come talk with me today.  Lia, I understand you’re doing a giveaway here  on Jenna’s Journal today.

Yes, as part of my two week self promoted blog tour — which starts today, 4/30, and goes through 5/11 — I’ll be selecting daily winners at each stop for a signed swag pack. At the end of the tour I select a grand prize winner of a $25 Amazon GC and signed swag.

Be sure to leave your email address in you comment to enter and follow the tour. For a list dates and locations go to http://www.authorliadavis.com/events/.

All winners will be notified by email.

Ravished Before Sunrise will be available May 1, 2012 at Decadent Publishing.

Excerpt:

Emalee’s pulse raced as she drummed her fingers on her desk and searched the website. A giddiness she hadn’t known since senior prom ran through her. The site claimed unlimited possibilities, a chance for adventure. Could they mean it? Because she’d already seen things beyond what humans deemed possible. Hell, her whole existence was unimaginable.

Her life had taken a lonesome turn when a friend she hadn’t seen since high school noted how much younger than the rest of her classmates she looked.  Her long-lasting youth had become a liability. Drawing too much attention to her unusual gift wouldn’t prove wise. In some cases, it could get her killed.  With no alternative, she’d closed the door on her life among humans and moved into the local witch coven, where everyone was different.

“What will you do?” Her best friend since preschool, a coven member in good standing, sat next to her for moral support and encouragement. Ema didn’t need much encouragement. The second Beth had mentioned a one-night stand, she’d been hooked. And Madame Eve’s dating service would save her from dying of boredom, at least for one night.

But could she go through with it? A wicked smile tugged at her lips and her inner voice said, “Hell, yeah.” Human strangers gave her a sense of safety. They knew nothing about her past or her unusual abilities.

“Just one night?”

Six Sentence Sunday–4/29 Only Scandal Will Do

Read for A Cure Starts Here May 1!

Welcome back to Six Sentence Sunday!

Thanks once again to everyone for your great support each week.  I do appreciate your comments, so keep them coming.  I also look forward to visiting your sites and reading your wonderful snippets.

Today’s six is once again from Only Scandal Will Do. I know I’m teasing you mercilessly since the book’s not releasing just yet, but…well, I’m a tease!  What can I say?

She was reveling in a scorching kiss from the stranger who is bent on taking further liberties when reality crashes back.

Dazed by the throbbing ache within her, bereft of his lips, Katarina struggled to raise her head. As if roused from a drugged sleep, she rolled onto her side and raised her head. The man, the stranger, had not only removed his cloak but was quickly unfastening his breeches. She shot upright and scrabbled wildly, trying to escape backward across the bed, but could find no purchase on the slick counterpane. The man advanced, his lips beneath the mask quirked in a wicked smile.

“And I thought you were enjoying yourself, my lady.”

My Sweet Saturday Sample and Six Sentence Sunday posts from January through April here at on my blog can catch you up to what’s going on in the story.  Be sure to come back next week for another six sentence installment on SSS.
