Welcome back to Six Sentence Sunday. My thanks again to those who visit me every week and those who are visiting for the first time. I do appreciate comments so please, let me know what you think of my six.
This week I thought you might like to see some more of Rafael’s interview with Samantha’s father. He’s way too cocky for his own good. Enjoy!
“I turned over in bed and my hand landed on…” Rafe pulled up short; this was her father after all, “a very female part of the female anatomy.”
Face red and eyes bulging, if Clarendon did not have apoplexy at this moment, he was safe for the rest of his life.
“She called me by my name, Rafe, and was very. . .encouraging, shall we say? But I swear to you, my lord, I did not know it was Lady Samantha.”
“Then who did you think it was, a succubus?”
“I thought it was one of the maids, my lord.”
Somehow I think Rafe is just digging himself deeper! Hope you enjoyed these six from As Long As You’re Mine. For more great snippets please go to Six Sentence Sunday. Or join in the fun next week with six of your own.
If you’d like to see more of my work, check out my previous posts under “Christmas in July” and enjoy three free reads.
And remember Heart of Deception, is now available for purchase from Books To Go Now!, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble and Hog Wild from New Dawning International Bookfair.

I don’t see how he can get out of this unscathed. Great six!

Hahahaha, kind of catch 22! Is claiming that he thought it was one of the maids an insult or an excuse?!

And therein lies the rub! Either way I don’t think Papa will be very forgiving! Thanks for coming by, Pippa!

Terrific snippet, and it made me love both characters, though Rafe a little more. 🙂

Thanks, Sonya! Rafe seems to be one of the most loveable characters I’ve created. He’s bad enough to be attractive, but not so bad he forgets how to be good. 🙂

Wow, this seems to be one big mess, and Rafe is the only one enjoying what has happened. A great six!

he’s digging himself a hole that will be hard to climb out of, isn’t he. LOL Really enjoyed your six, Jenna!

Thanks, Sarah. Yes, he’ll need to speak Chineese when he eventually comes out! LOL

Rafe is a scamp, and a bad-boy like that is always fun to read about. You want to smack him and smooch him at the same time. That can be arranged.

Oh, yes it can! Thanks, Trish. Wouldn’t you like to catch him at a State Fair kissing booth! LOL I’d spend every dollar I had. 🙂

I love how the last line seems like a perfect rationalization of the situation…

At least it was for Rafe! LOL Thanks for commenting, Monkey.

I’m loving this scene! No matter what Rafe says, it won’t sit well with Clarendon. After all, his daughter is “ruined.” Good description of the father’s physical reaction.
(And thanks for commenting on my six!)

My pleasure, Sandra. And thanks for your comment! Yes, sadly Samantha is “ruined” and that bodes ill for Rafe’s chances of talking himself out of the situation, “smooth” talker that he is. LOL

I don’t think he’s going to get out of this, no matter what his explanations. lol!

But he’s such a sweet talker, don’t you think? LOL Thanks for coming by, Bree. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, Cate. Rafe may see the writing on the wall, but that doesn’t mean he won’t try to find an eraser!

So, um, when’s the book coming out? I love a good historical – to read, not write – and this one’s got me super hooked. I’ve read your teaser tidbits which are hardly enough now to whet my appetite. I need the meal. LOL

Sorry to disappoint, Mirriam, but I’m just now starting the second draft! I’m hoping to have it ready to query by the end of August. So God only knows! I’ve been querying one book hard for the past 6 months and no takers so far, though it is out with an editor now who seemed very interested. So you may have to wait a bit for the ALAYM meal to be cooked! But thanks for the vote of confidence and for stopping by!

Not expecting a young virginal well-bred lady to share his bed you do have to admit that Rafe does have a good point though.

Oh, he’s actually the “innocent” one in all this, though his defense of just “doin’ what comes naturally” kind of doesn’t hold water. He was up to no good regardless of who he thought was in his bed! LOL Thanks, Lindsay.
