Sweet Saturday Sample–2/18 Heart of Deception

Welcome back to Sweet Saturday Sample!  All excerpts here are rated PG-13 or milder.  I’m continuing with my Victorian short story, Heart of Deception.

The story, set in London, 1860, follows Lady Celinda Graham, who is head-over-heels in love with a man to whom her father has strong objections.  In this sample, we find out why Papa objects so much to Andrew.

The first Viscount Hurston, a notorious rakehell in the heyday of the Restoration, had ruined Papa’s great-great aunt and abandoned her.  A long, bitter feud ensued between the families.  So long-lasting that Papa now cited the old grudge as a reason to deny her marriage.  But Papa was not going to have the last word this time.  She would marry Andrew Barclay Finley, Eighth Viscount Hurston by fair means or foul.

“I doubt I can spend time with your father now, my love.” Andrew’s rich baritone voice tickled her ear as he leaned close to her.  His thumbs caressed the tops of her hands as he conveyed them one by one to his warm lips.

A thrill of desire ran through Celinda’s body at that slight caress.  The touch of his lips sent fire spreading past the pit of her stomach to lodge in a place she could scarcely bring herself to name.  More heat flushed her face.  No one else ever made her feel like Andrew did.  But his words finally registered in her distracted mind and she frowned.  “Why not, Andrew?  If Papa knew you better. . .”

“I’m sorry, Celinda, but I received word this morning that I must leave tomorrow for Hurst Manor.  There is a problem at the estate that I must resolve.  If this problem with the drainage is not rectified, the harvest will suffer as will my tenants next winter.”  His soulful eyes pled as his words could not.  “You understand, don’t you dearest one?”

The endearment melted her heart.  Andrew was so kind, so thoughtful, so dutiful.  How could Papa think him a cad?

“Then what can we do, my love?”  Despair returned, heightening her anguish.  “The season is in full swing and Papa has decreed I must choose a husband this year.  He was quite vexed that I did not last year and has threatened that if I don’t choose someone appropriate he will choose for me.”  Celinda shuddered.  The men her father mentioned as “appropriate,” were ludicrous.

Maybe father knows best, Celinda.  Come back next week for another little snippet to see if  Papa’s objections to the young man are justified.

Hope you enjoyed today’s sample of Heart of Deception.  It’s available for the tempting price of .99 at Books To Go Now, Amazon, All Romance E-Books, and Barnes and Noble.

Go Commando!

I hadn’t heard this phrase until just a couple of years ago, so when people were talking about ‘going commando’ I didn’t have a clue.  Well, I thought it probably had to do something with the military. LOL  Although that’s really not far from the truth.

But the meaning of this innocuous phrase had shifted quite a bit from it’s original meaning, used in the armed forces in America to mean “toughening up” and dating back to the 1950s or 60s.  According to the article “Do Commandos Go Commando?” by Daniel Engber, “It’s possible that ‘going commando’ first poked its way into the public consciousness during the Vietnam War, when American special forces were spending extended periods in hot, wet jungle environments.”  So apparently commandos were encouraged to go commando to prevent the dreaded “crotch rot” found in the steamy climate.

“Going Commando”–as in wearing no underwear– seems to have emerged in 19974 in a book on college slang, though its popularity shot through the roof after Joey and Rachel “went commando” on an episode of Friends in 1996.  And its been gaining fans ever since.

There are several advantages, ladies, to stepping out au naturel:  you don’t have to worry about panty lines, you don’t have to scramble for clean undies, and you don’t have to endure the bulk of briefs or the wedgie-like discomfort of thongs.

Perhaps the best one, however, according to Cosmopolitan, is a feeling of sexual adventure. “Not wearing panties is risqué; you get a naughty rush knowing you’re so exposed,” explains Los Angeles clinical sexologist Ava Cadell, PhD. Removing the barrier that shields your intimate anatomy makes you more in touch with your innate sensuality.”

Not to mention what the thought of you all bare underneath that flirty skirt will do to your man’s libido.  Brings out his oh so lustful thoughts at just the hint that you’re bare to your soul down there.
Just like we women get that peak of interest when we suspect a man has “gone commando.”  Come on, ladies.  Think about the Scots and their kilts!  Haven’t you suspected (read hoped), just a wee bit, that a good breeze would leave nothing to your imagination? LOL (Is it just me, or is there something super sexy about a man in a kilt?)

My heroine, Pam, in Almost Perfect finds herself in an angry confrontation and decides when she can’t find her panties, she’d rather go commando than stick around and deal with Roger.

Have you ever gone commando?  Ever been forced into it by circumstances?  Ever even thought about it?  I’ll start by saying, No, I’ve never gone commando.  I think I would feel too wicked and know that everyone knew I didn’t have anything on! LOL  What about you?

Horny Hump Day 2/15/12: Almost Perfect

Welcome to Horny Hump Day!

WARNING:  MATERIAL NOT SUITABLE FOR THOSE UNDER THE AGE OF 18!

NOT SAFE FOR WORK!

Wednesdays in February will definitely speak of love and lust as Horny Hump Day gets hotter and hotter!  Participating authors post three sentences from their published works or WIP, hot enough to melt your computer screen!  Or at least I hope so. LOL

February is Almost Perfect month so I’m putting up three more scorching hot sentences from that erotic release, part of Decadent Publishing’s 1Night Stand series.

Pam Kimball’s been marooned on a not so deserted island–with her ex-husband.  They divorced over her demeaning his lovemaking skills, but now Roger boasts he’s learned  lot in two years.  And boy has he!  After one scorching encounter on the beach, Roger carries her out into the moonlit water for another demonstration.

His slow drive, coupled with the new angle, stroked different places within her—in no time, he’d built a delicious tension that excited her in a whole new way. Then he shifted to faster, deeper thrusts, squeezing her ass as he pumped in and out. He brought her body to the sharp pinnacle of release just as he groaned and dipped them into the water.

And I somehow don’t think Rodger’s through showing off yet!  Come back next week to see what else he has in store for Pam!  Meanwhile, have a Happy Horny Hump Day!  Oh, and be sure to leave a comment and let me know if this is hot enough for you!  I love to read your comments.

I’ve also been informed that Almost Perfect has a fantastic review out later today from Whole Latte Romance Reviews!  Please come check it out over at Kayla Tocco’s site!

Please check out the Horny Hump Day blog site for the other sites on the hop.  It also gives the details of how to sign up for next week if you’d like to play with us. 🙂

Thanks so much for visiting the Journal for Horny Hump Day.

Six Sentence Sunday–2/12/12 Only Scandal Will Do

Welcome back to Six Sentence Sunday!  I want to thank everyone, once again, for their great support each week.  I do appreciate your visits and look forward to each comment with anticipation.  I also look forward to visiting your sites and reading your wonderful stories.

Once again I’m following up my six from last week with the next six sentences  from Only Scandal Will Do.

If you remember, Duncan has purchased a woman in a brothel auction and has come to claim his prize.  His “slave” however, continues to insist there has been a mistake.  He has managed to turn the tables on the “lady” and called her virtue into question.  Last week, outraged, she turned and fled, only to be stopped short by her purchaser. Now she’s opted to try to reason with the man.  Kat creates a strategy as she speaks, determined to talk her way out of this.

She forced herself to relax, though the thought of his hands on her raised goose-flesh everywhere. It was only her hair, after all, and no great sin. Perhaps if she softened her demeanor she could convince him of her plight. She could offer honeyed tones for a little while.

“Will you hear my story of how a lady ended up in this House of Pleasure, sir?” Even to her own ears her “innocent” voice sounded false.

Katarina’s getting more desperate.  Will he listen or no?

If you’d like to read more about Kat’s plight, check out my posts from January at Sweet Saturday Sample and come back next week for another six sentence installment.

Thanks once more for visiting Six Sentence Sunday.  Click the SSS to try out more author snippets.  You’ll be glad you did!

Sweet Saturday Sample–2/11 Heart of Deception

Welcome back to Sweet Saturday Sample!  All excerpts here are rated PG-13 or milder.  I’m continuing with my Victorian short story, Heart of Deception.

The story, set in London, 1860, follows Lady Celinda Graham, who is head-over-heels in love with a man to whom her father has strong objections.  In this sample, just for Valentine’s Day, we see how the couple met.  I hope you enjoy.

Celinda had known from the very start that Andrew was something out of the ordinary.  She had met Lord Hurston two months earlier, at the Hamptons’ gala ball opening the London social season.  Her heart began to beat a bizarre, staccato rhythm at the sight of the tall, dark-haired stranger, dressed in the elegance of a black swallowtail coat, accentuating his broad shoulders and narrow waist. He walked towards her, deep in conversation with Lady Hampton, who smiled and nodded at him while shooting speculative glances at Celinda.

“Lady Celinda Graham, may I present Andrew Finley, Viscount Hurston?  My lord, Lady Celinda Graham.”  Lady Hampton’s presence melted away as Celinda curtsied to the handsome man, her eyes only for him.

“Lady Celinda, I am enchanted.” His deep voice sent shivers through her.   “I am just returned from America and so have not had the honor of making your acquaintance.  A devastation of which I am now acutely aware. ”   Celinda blushed at the compliment and tried not to smile.  “May I hope, Lady Celinda, that you will allow me to lead you out for the first dance?”

Without even checking her dance card, Celinda nodded and gave him her hand.  Smiling broadly, the viscount swept her into the first waltz where she was caught in the depths of his fascinating crystal blue eyes.   The heat of his hand penetrated through her long white gloves as he guided her into the dizzying whirl of the dance.  Crisp linen and faint, spicy cologne wafted over her, setting her pulse into a frantic beat.  By the end of the waltz she was convinced this was the man she was destined to marry.

But destiny can be a two-edged sword! Come back next week for another little snippet to see if what Papa’s objections to the young man are.

Hope you enjoyed today’s sample of Heart of Deception.  It’s available for the tempting price of .99 at Books To Go Now, Amazon, All Romance E-Books, and Barnes and Noble.

Romance is in the Air: With Love, Valentine’s Day Blog Hop

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays.

When I was young, my friends and I would address Valentines to the neighborhood children, then wait for dark.  We would go to a house, place the Valentines on the porch in front of the door, ring the doorbell and run like hell and hide.  We would wait, peeping out from the bushes, or around the side of the house, until the door opened and the person would pick up the cards–often peering into the darkness trying to locate the little “Cupid” who had delivered them–and go back inside.

The suspense, the thrill of sneaking around after dark, and the satisfaction when I wasn’t caught has remained a very fond memory.

In more recent years, the big attraction has been Godiva chocolates.  And I’m okay with that. 🙂

Now this Valentine’s Day, I’m offering you the chance to Be My Valentine.  But instead of a card I’ll be giving away copies of my books Heart of Deception, Hog Wild, and Almost Perfect.  Plus, to the Grand Prize Winner:  an Amazon Gift Card.

To Enter:  Follow my blog and leave me an email telling me which of my books you would like to win based on the blurbs listed below.  Winners will be drawn at random on Valentine’s Day, so look for your valentines to arrive that night.

Heart of Deception:  A Victorian Historical Romance

Celinda Graham—young, naïve, passionate—is head-over-heels in love with Andrew Finley, Viscount Hurston and insists on marrying him. Unfortunately, Andrew’s family has been feuding with Celinda’s for generations.  When her father refuses to allow the marriage, Andrew proposes a scandalous way to get his approval.  But Andrew has a secret that may spell disaster to his plans if Celinda finds out he is not what he seems.

Hog Wild:  An Erotic Fractured Fairytale

When Lula Wolfendale’s motorcycle breaks down on her way to a Harley rally, she detours into tiny Shoshone, CA to find a new ride.  Seducing bikers Beau and Rob Hogue and commandeering their Harleys is easy; finding sexual satisfaction is a “hog” of a different color.  A Blue Phantom, to be exact, owned by the pair’s older brother, Jesse.  After brief, unsatisfying encounters with the first two Hogues, Lula approaches Jesse with a proposition:  a sexual contest for his Phantom, where Lula will emerge with either a bike to die for or the climax of her dreams.  Or can she possibly obtain both?

Almost Perfect:  An Erotic Contemporary in the 1Night Stand Series

Pamela Kimball’s birthday present, a 1Night Stand adventure, promises jump-start her life, put a new man in her bed, and help her forget her past.  Unfortunately, movie-buff Pam’s Pirates of the Caribbean fantasy takes an alarming wrong turn when she’s abandoned on a not quite deserted island—with ex-husband Roger Ware.

Forced by hunger to accept Roger’s offer of dinner,  Pam realizes the geek she married has transformed into one of the most charming, sexiest men she’s ever met. His newfound confidence—and hot body—re-kindles old fires.  A simple kiss leads Roger to challenge her to discover how much his lovemaking skills have improved, leaving Pam torn between self-preservation and burning desire.

With time running out before they’re rescued, Pam must decide if her heart can survive the consequences of becoming Roger’s “almost” perfect 1Night Stand.

Now to rejoin the Hop, just click on the button below and it will take you on to gather other valentine treasure.  Happy Valentine’s Day!

“Cupid, Draw Back Your Bow”

The God of Love is certainly busy this time of year.  And nowhere are his arrows more needed than in my romance novels!  Hi, I’m Jenna Jaxon for those who don’t know me.  I write erotic contemporary and historical romance novels and thought I’d share some moments from my books when Cupid’s work is either very apparent or desperately needed.

In my latest release, Almost Perfect, an erotic contemporary set on a deserted island, Cupids arrows are needed badly.  Stranded on a desert island,  expecting her fantasy 1 Night Stand date–an Orlando Bloom-esque pirate ready to ravish her with her full permission–Pam finds instead her ex-husband.

“You’ve just had all the bad luck with jobs, haven’t you?”

She raised her chin. “I haven’t had to struggle to make ends meet.”

“Thanks to the alimony I deposit into your account each month.” He picked up her water-stained sandal, pointedly staring at the name emblazoned down the middle. “Gloria Vanderbilt? I do remember some of the designers you used to frequent.”

She sprang onto her knees and snatched the shoe out of his hands. “What I do with my money is my damned business. You wanted out of the marriage bad enough to pay substantially for it.”

“I think any man would want out of a marriage where his wife compares him to a lukewarm Pee-wee Herman, then likens his lovemaking skills to ‘Pee-wee’s Big Top Adventure with the good bits taken out.’” Spoken in a soft, even tone, the words made her squirm. But there was no way to deny it—those were her exact words the night he’d thrown her out.

“I just called it as I saw it.”

“And you saw it so infrequently I’m surprised you remembered.”

Cupid’s arrows are sorely needed on that island paradise!

In my novel, Only Scandal Will Do, to be released on May 21,  Cupid seems to have already struck.  Lady Katarina Fitzwilliam has been kidnapped and sold at auction to a masked and caped man.  She tells him her story and after initially doubting her, the stranger suddenly acquiesces.

“Lean your head just there, sweet.” She could hear the strong beat of his heart, smell the clean, comforting citrus of his cologne. The fresh scent reminded her of home.

“You will be all right now,” he whispered, holding her securely to him. Safe at last. She closed her eyes and leaned into his caresses, contentment stealing through her for the first time since leaving Virginia.

His fingers found her chin, turned her face up to his. Her eyes flew open and peace fled as he pressed her mouth with a gentle kiss that stole what breath she had left. His lips–soft, warm, insistent–generated heat all the way to her toes. A sensation so overpowering Kat forgot everything around her, giving herself completely to the pleasures of that kiss.

Somehow his tongue slipped through her quivering lips, stroked her tongue, caressed her depths. Kat groaned, her face aflame at this unexpected intimacy. No man had ever kissed
her this way, plundering where he would and denying her the will to protest. Raw power leaped from his mouth, streaked through her body, inflamed her craving even more.

But Kat needs to beware–Cupid’s arrows don’t always find their correct mark.

Another pair of my characters, Lula Wolfendale and Jesse Hogue, require just a nudge from Cupid.  Both seem ready (more than ready) and willing to be his victims in my erotic contemporary Hog Wild.

“Jesse Hogue?”

“That’s right.”

A stunning smile spread across her red, red mouth as she extended her hand. “Lula Wolfendale.” He grasped it, immediately warmed by the heat emanating from her palm. She should be wearing gloves. Hell, should be wearing all her gear. But he was glad she wasn’t. She was so much eye candy a man could get a sugar rush from twenty yards.

“How can I help you, Ms. Wolfendale?” Jesse smiled back, releasing her hand.
“Lula, please, Mr. Hogue.” Amusement flickered in her eyes.

“Then call me Jesse, Lula. Were you looking for me? I noticed you checking out the addresses as you came down the street.”

“I have been looking for you pretty much all day, Jesse.” She nodded her head and something in the gesture caused his stomach to twist in anticipation. “I have a proposition for you.”

That statement stopped him cold. “Proposition?” Anticipation became an outright heat bloom that sank into his cock. He took a breath. “Would you like a beer?” He raised the bottle of Dos Equis. “If I’m going to be propositioned, we might as well both enjoy ourselves.”

A light gleamed in Lula’s eyes. She threw back her head and laughed. “That would certainly be novel, Jesse. So, yes, a beer would be nice.” She eyed the bottle. “Are you the most interesting man in the world?”

Her laugh was infectious. He grinned and motioned her up the steps. “Perhaps not in the world, but I hope the most interesting one here.”

“And are there others around?”

“No.”

She turned to him as she stepped onto the porch, her eyes searching his with sharp interest. “Then I suspect you’re right.” Her mouth puckered with amusement. “You may, in fact, turn out to be delightful.”

Another relationship I’m not sure is going to turn out as planned.

And finally, my heroine from my Victorian short romance, Heart of Deception.  Celinda Graham is one of Cupid’s favorite victims, for she suffers from love at first sight.

But is all as it truly seems in paradise?  The course of true love never did run straight!  And Celinda’s is no exception!

Meet Lady Celinda Graham

Since I’ve been posting some snippets of my Victorian short romance Heart of Deception, I thought you might like to learn a little more about the heroine, Lady Celinda Graham.  So I’m having a little chat with Celinda this morning over tea.

Jenna:  Lady Celinda, how good of you to call this morning.  I’m very glad you agreed to talk with me and my readers about yourself.

Celinda:  Good Morning, Miss Jenna.  I am always happy to accommodate you.  This tea is excellent.  And such delicious cakes.  You must have a wonderful cook.

Jenna:  I, uh, made these myself, Lady Celinda.

Celinda:  Your cook is indisposed?

Jenna:  My cook is non-existent.  But I am glad you are enjoying them.  I was hoping you could tell my readers a little bit about your plight.

Celinda:  Well, yes, I am in such distress these days.  You see, I’m in love with the most wonderful man imaginable, but my father refuses to allow us to marry.

Jenna:  Why would he do such a thing?  He does not approve of the match?

Celinda:  No, he doesn’t!  And for such a silly reason.  Andrew, Viscount Hurston, the most handsome, most gentle, most loving man a girl could ask for, has unfortunate ancestors.  His great-great-great grandfather was a scandalous man during the days of the Restoration.  A very wicked man, indeed.  He kidnapped my father’s great-great aunt and…*whispering* well, he ruined her, and *resumes normal voice* then refused to marry her.  She died in disgrace and the families have never spoken since.

Jenna:  Well, that does sound like a valid reason not to want you to marry into that family.  Such wild streaks run in families sometimes.

Celinda:  But not in Andrew!  He would never consider dishonoring a woman.

Jenna:  You’ve known him long?

Celinda:  For three months.  But I know Andrew.  He is above reproach.  He has only ever treated me with the utmost respect.

Jenna:  What makes Andrew so wonderful, Celinda?

Celinda:  Oh, he’s very tall, and handsome, and looks divine in his evening dress!  And when he waltzes with me, with his hand on my waist, I feel quite…quite…

Jenna:  Lustful?

Celinda:  *gasps* Miss Jenna!  How could you say such a thing?

Jenna:  But you admit you are attracted to the man?

Celinda:  *blushes* Yes, of course.

Jenna:   And he is extremely good-looking?  With a well-built body?

Celinda:  Ah…yes, Andrew is a handsome man.*fans self with hand*

Jenna:  And when he dances with you, you are quite overcome by the feelings his touch excites in you?

Celinda:  *voice rising to a squeak* Excites! *takes a fan from reticule and fans herself rapidly*  I believe it is time for me to go, Miss Jenna.

Jenna:  I’m sorry if I’ve upset you, Celinda.  But I feel I must advise you to take caution where Andrew is concerned.  Your deep feelings for him may lead you to actions with grave consequences.

Celinda:  You mean his plan to allow us to wed?

Jenna:  *suspiciously* He has a plan, does he?

Celinda: *proudly* He does, indeed.  A plan that’s a bit…scandalous he says, but that will make Papa insist that we marry.

Jenna:  What is his plan, Celinda?

Celinda:  *rises* I’m sorry to have to rush off, Miss Jenna, but I’m to meet Andrew you see, this afternoon.  We’re finalizing his…our plan.

Jenna:  Celinda, please, you mustn’t do anything rash.  What if Andrew really isn’t the man you think he is?  What if he’s just like his ancestor?

Celinda:  I’m sure you’re wrong, Miss Jenna.  Andrew loves me.  And I’ll do anything to assure that we can be together always.

Jenna:  Anything? Celinda, just what is Andrew asking you to do?

Celinda:  Thank you so much for your hospitality, Miss Jenna.  You must call on me after my marriage, when I am Lady Hurston.  Good morning.

Jenna:  *sighs* I only hope that will be possible, Celinda.

If you’d like to learn the outcome of Celinda  and Andrew’s plan, pick up a copy of Heart of Deception, available for .99 at Amazon, Books to Go Now and most other e-retailers.

Thanks for coming by to meet Celinda.  I only hope everything turns out all right for the poor girl.

This week I’m putting up three more scorching hot sentences from my latest erotic release Almost Perfect, part of Decadent Publishing’s 1Night Stand series.

Pam Kimball’s been marooned on a not so deserted island–with her ex-husband.  They divorced over her demeaning his lovemaking skills, but now Roger boasts he’s learned  lot in two years.  Pam’s about to find out what else Roger has learned.

He lifted and slid her down onto his hot, waiting cock. They groaned
together, the sounds oddly similar. He rocked them in a gentle glide back and forth, and she forgot about breathing.

Wonder what else she’ll forget, now that he has her full attention. LOL  Have a Happy Horny Hump Day!  Oh, and be sure to leave a comment and let me know if this is hot enough for you!  I love to read your comments.
