Blurb for Hog Wild:

When Lula Wolfendale’s motorcycle breaks down on her way to a Harley rally, she detours into tiny Shoshone, CA to find a new ride.  Seducing bikers Beau and Rob Hogue and commandeering their Harleys is easy; finding sexual satisfaction is a “hog” of a different color.  A Blue Phantom, to be exact, owned by the pair’s older brother, Jesse.  After brief, unsatisfying encounters with the first two Hogues, Lula approaches Jesse with a proposition:  a sexual contest for his Phantom, where Lula will emerge with either a bike to die for or the climax of her dreams.  Or can she possibly obtain both?

In this snippet, Lula has made it to Jesse, the final Hogue brother, and has high hopes for their encounter.

800px-Eropolis_Toulouse_2008_13Hovering, his mouth poised just above hers, his lips parted and he licked across the seam of her mouth, down her neck and across the swell of her breasts. Lula closed her eyes and moaned–her pussy was on fire, throbbing and weeping. She could barely keep from grabbing his dick and thrusting it home.

Spy Catcher by Lindsay Downs

SpyCatcher_SM

Blurb for Spy Catcher:

While acting as chaperone to Lady Aleece at a house party, little does lady’s maid Debbi realize how her life will change.

Not prepared to fall in love nor see a man who bears an uncanny resemblance to her, Debbi’s world begins to turn upside down.

After several attempts on her life, and a run-in with yet another look-alike, she uncovers her true heritage, as the unknown daughter of a countess. Having been raised and trained as a lady’s maid, but educated alongside her employer, Debbi begins to wonder in which world she truly belongs.

Only when her new love’s life is threatened does Debbie claim her rightful place and do what’s necessary to save him.

Excerpt for Spy Catcher:

After breaking her fast Debbi slipped into an old, well-worn grey gown she always wore when fishing. With her custom-made flies in their protective container she and Lady Aleece, who was dressed similarly, descended the stairs to the main floor, there to be met by Lord Gerrard and Mr. Thomas.

As she stepped onto the marble flooring Debbi couldn’t help but notice how her partner, Lord Gerrard not to mention Mr. Thomas were dressed.

Instead of the immaculately turned out gentleman of breeding she notice he was in more versatile attire. He’d chosen a dark brown bandana tied loosely around his neck. His shirt, of a fawn color, was open at the collar showing a hint of tan matching the hue of his face. With the morning already warming he’d eschewed a jacket in favor of a multi-pocketed vest. She could only guess they were for the necessary accessories required when fishing. Covering his legs a pair of heavy, dark brown britches and well-worn boots on his feet.

“Why, Lord Gerrard, if I didn’t know better you look like you’re ready for a day of fishing.”

“Why thank you and I must say your gown is interesting, to say the least,” he responded.

“Before my father took to his sick bed he had been nearly fanatical about fishing and I seem to have caught the same enthusiasm.”

“Then let us be off,” he said with a smile, offering his arm.

Once on the terrace they collected their fly rods and creels from the footman and joined Aleece and Mr. Thomas on the lawn awaiting the earl to announce the start of the contest.

Glancing around at the other guests, in search of one in particular, Debbi wondered how the others save for Susan and Jeff would survive the rigors of this activity. When she spied the man, Debbi moved in such a way that Lord Gerrard was between her and Thompson. This way she could scrutinize him without appearing obvious. After a minute of studying him she turned to Aleece.

“Yes, you’re correct. If I didn’t know better we could almost be brother and sister. Not that I’d want to be related to him in any way.”

When queried by not only Lord Gerrard but also Mr. Thomas she promised to explain at the first opportunity when they were in private.

Author Bio:

155741_499542680092936_1322824362_nWhat does it take to be a bestselling author? Determination, skill, talent, luck or taking a risk with a venture into a totally new genre. For me it was a little of some and a lot of the others.

In 2008 when I got two books published I thought it was due to skill; little did I know it was more luck than anything. Over the next three years I wrote, submitted, got rejected. I then did what I tell everyone who asks; I wrote some more. I didn’t give up.

More on a dare than anything I tried my hand at a regency, one of the most difficult genres because of the rules, which I might add I broke almost every one. Within two days of its release the book was on a best seller list and stayed there for two months.

Turns out it is all of the aforementioned.

After two failed marriages, one from divorce while with the other died unexpectedly I decided upon retirement to move. That opportunity came in September 2012 when I migrated to Texas.

For me, as a multi-published author, it was one of the best things I’ve done to date. Now, every day I can write, creating stories to take my readers to places they can only dream about.

I’m also a member of the Published Authors Network (PAN) by the Romance Writers of America (RWA).

Description:

Artist James Bryant has forearm crutches in every color from rainbow for fun to sleek black for business. He even has a pair with more paint splatters than metal. After his family’s rejection and abuse from a man he thought loved him, James only just gets through the day by painting. He lives in constant fear that he’s not worthy of anything, let alone love.

As CEO of his company, Carrington Enterprises, Seth Burns is a take-charge kind of guy, and he is instantly smitten by the artist helping with his newest project. When he witnesses James suffer a panic attack, a protective instinct he never knew he had kicks in. He truly believes nothing is unobtainable—including James—if he’s willing to put in the time and effort.

James is shy and confused by Seth’s interest in him as a person. With Seth’s support, can he work through his fears to finally find the true love he deserves, or will someone finally land the crushing blow he won’t survive?

Excerpt for Designs of Desire:

James allowed his gaze to wander around the entryway, taking in the welcoming setting. Noticing a worker passing through, he asked, “Excuse me. Do you know where I can find Mr. Burns?”

“Yeah, he’s in the manager’s office over there.” The man was covered in dust. He gestured toward a closed door near a large desk, then continued on his way. James couldn’t help looking around once more to admire the rich wood tones, marble tiled floors, and beautiful crown molding, before he headed off in the right direction.

Before he could knock, the door swung open and a harried looking woman stormed out, slamming it so hard it popped back open. Maybe now isn’t the best time, he thought and started to turn away when Mr. Burns appeared in the doorway.

“James,” he said. “Thank God you’re here. Please tell me you brought some ideas, before Stacey drives me to drink. She wants to start painting but can’t until we have everything settled with the designs.”

The way Seth’s eyes pierced him made James feel both nervous and ten feet tall at the same time. “If you have some place I can set up, sure. I have a few designs for you to look over.” He kept wondering why they had waited so long to employ Skye Designs. Normally you do all the branding much earlier in the project.

Motioning down the hallway, Seth led him into a large room—probably meant to be a conference or reception room, considering the carpet and acoustic tiles in the ceiling. “Come in. What can I do to help?” he asked, watching James settle into a comfortable chair before unloading his pack.

James was nervous. He’d never had such a significant or large account before, but he was excited as well. “We normally have the designs approved before getting to this point, but I’ll do my best to catch up. Give me just a minute to set up, then you can see what I have.”

“We’ll get to that in a few. I want you to finish setting up then come with me.”

James stopped midmotion and looked up, confused. “I thought—” He shook his head. “Never mind. Okay.”

Seth led James out of the room, into a wide hallway with large windows spilling filtered sunlight onto the veined marble floor, and began showing him around. Seth stayed close, so close James occasionally caught a whiff of his intoxicating scent, something bright yet deep—cardamom and cedar with a light musk. He wasn’t sure, but he was beginning to think just being near Seth could become a delicious addiction.

As they exited the elevator on the second floor, James stopped dead in his tracks. His heart beat so fast and loud he felt certain Seth would hear it slamming into his ribs. He stared ahead and prayed he was having a terrible nightmare. Those he could wake up from. Please!

Standing there, looking him up and down, was a phantom from his past. Victor d’Leone was even more powerfully built than the last time he had seen him. He stood in the hall, his arms crossed over his barrel chest, scowling. The sea-foam green eyes James once thought so beautiful and loving now bored holes through him. The ghosts of the last time Vic had been near him shot pain-filled shards of memory through him. Away. Yes, he had to get away.

“I… I… I…,” James stammered. He scrambled back into the elevator and almost fell when his left crutch slipped on the metal edging. He punched the close door button repeatedly while fighting the panic attack threatening to destroy his job and sanity. “No, no, no. Not happening,” he mumbled.

He hadn’t waited for Seth to react, nor had he explained anything; he’d just bolted. James headed toward the exit as soon as the elevator doors opened—forget the damn presentation. He scrambled for the steps, desperate to reach the car before he completely lost it.

Life was never that easy.

Seth appeared out of nowhere, sprinting after him in his expensive Armani suit and custom leather shoes. “James! Stop!” he commanded.

Fighting the panic, James tried to get a hold of himself. Stop? Is he nuts? “I can’t be here. I—I’ll come back later.” With protection!

A powerful hand grasped his right arm. Startled, he stopped. Staring at the hand that bound him to his worst nightmare, he begged, “Please, let me go.”

Try as he might, he couldn’t stop the panic and fear as it suffocated him.

Close Encounters of the Wicked Kind Scavenger Hunt

wicked scavenger hunt

Welcome to the Hunt!

I’m Jenna Jaxon, author of historical romance, all periods because passion is timeless!  I’ve been writing for almost 5 years and am looking forward to five times that in the future.  I’ve also dabbled in erotic romance–from steamy shower scenes to demonstrations of the Kama Sutra.  For when hot just isn’t enough!  In my spare time (hah!) I work in the theatre where I’m known for my sex and sword fighting scenes.

Today’s excerpt is from my latest historical novella, Betrothal.  It’s set in the medieval period and is about an arranged marriage that almost wasn’t!  But first, here’s the question you’ll need to answer in the Rafflecopter link:

Who is Lady Alyce betrothed to?

Betrothal with Logo

Now the Excerpt for Betrothal:

“What do you require of me, Majesty?” Her mouth so dry she could taste sand, Alyse fought to speak in a normal tone. With a sigh of relief, she dropped into a deep curtsy, hiding her face in the folds of her skirt. If only she could remain bowed thus before His Majesty for the remainder of the evening.

King Edward laughed. “Obedience, Lady Alyse, as I require of all my subjects. As your father requires of his daughter.”

Her heart thumped wildly in her breast. That could mean but one thing.

“Rise, my lady.”

She did so on unsteady feet. “I am ready, as always, Your Majesty, to obey my father as I would you.”

Holy Mary, let it be Lord Braeton.

King Edward lifted an eyebrow toward Alyse. “A very pretty answer, my lady. And are you ready to accept your father’s decree for your betrothal? His messenger has today reached me with the contract, as I am to stand in his stead in this matter.”

Alyse took a deep breath and hoped her voice did not tremble. “Yea, Majesty, I will obey my father.”

King Edward nodded and leaned over to whisper something to Queen Phillipa, who sat beside him, heavy with their twelfth child.

Mere seconds before she learned her fate. She could scarce affect an indifferent pose before the court when inside every inch of her quivered with anticipation of the name. His name, pray God, on the king’s lips.

Thomas.

In her mind, she heard the word.

The king straightened, glanced at her then at the man by her side.

“What say you then, Sir Geoffrey? Does the lady not speak fair? I vow she will make you a proper wife and a dutiful one as well.”

Alyse turned, until that moment unaware that Geoffrey Longford stood beside her. Geoffrey(1)Chills coursed down her body as the king’s words echoed in her mind. The sensation of falling backward assailed her, as though she rushed away from the tall man at her side even as his figure loomed larger and larger in her sight.

Not Lord Braeton.

Her numbed brain repeated the phrase, trying to comprehend that instead he would be her husband. Geoffrey Longford.

God have mercy on me, for by the look of him, this man will not.

Fearful, she cringed as her gaze climbed higher, over his chest, over his chin, finally resting on the dark blue eyes turned toward her.

Geoffrey returned her appraisal, his gaze sweeping her figure as a smile crept over his face. “Your Majesty.” He spoke to the king but his attention remained fixed on Alyse. “When my father told me of the betrothal contract before I left his home, I resolved to play the dutiful son. Now, however, I find I do not wish to act that role after all.” His eyes held hers as he paused.

Dear God, does he mean to renounce me here before the entire court?

Alyse stared at the man beside her, willing herself to remain upright, despite the waves of ice and fire alternating through her body.

“Now I find I would rather play the ardent lover.”

An amused murmur ran through the Hall at his words. Sir Geoffrey grinned, his eyes sparkling with humor and something more. Despite the uneven light, Alyse saw an unfathomable promise in their dark depths. She took a shaky breath and looked away.

masked manBlue fire shot directly from his finger through her breast, causing Kat to gasp and arch against him. With a chuckle the man released her lips, but before she could protest, lowered his head and seized her nipple through the sheer white cloth. The gauzy fabric might as well not be there, for she could feel every lash of his circling tongue.

Of its own accord, her tongue thrust into him, bringing a growl of approval that encouraged her to frenzied explorations of his warm, wet mouth. Worst Week Ever by Liza O’Conner

Welcome to Jenna’s Journal.  Today, Liza O’Connor has sent two of her characters from her book Worst Week Ever to be interviewed: Carrie Hanson

Carrie indoors

and Trent Lancaster.

trent 007 sml

Jenna:  I notice you came in a stretch limo. Liza is certainly sparing no expense for this tour.

Limo

Trent: That is my limo not some rental.

Jenna: That’s right you’re a billionaire. Your limo looks like the president’s state car.

Trent: Well, it’s better. Cost nearly twice as much as his. It’s a bullet proof, high performance vehicle, driven by a expert driver.

Carrie: *smiles at Jenna* Sam is a very good driver. Otherwise, I doubt we’d be alive for you to interview us.

Jenna: What happened?

Carrie:  We got stuck in traffic and Trent ordered Sam to get off the major highway–

Trent: More like a parking lot.

Carrie: Sam warned us the current neighborhood was not up to his standards, but I had no idea how frightening it would be.

Trent: Nor did I.

Carrie: It was is if we’d entered a third world country.

Trent: And the indigenous population hated limos.

Jenna: Where exactly were you?

Trent: *shrugs* No idea but I strongly recommend you not go there.

Carrie: Sam did warn us that the locals wouldn’t  welcome up.

Trent: Welcome? A gang blocked the road to force us to stop.

Carrie: I closed my eyes at that point. I was sure someone was going to die.

Jenna: What happened?

Trent: I came to Carrie’s rescue and pulled her to my chest.

Carrie: It really helped. I was so frightened, but pressed against him I could hear his heart beat once to every three of mine.  His calmness and his fabulous cologne soothed me even as matters outside deteriorated.

Jenna: Did your driver hit someone?

Trent: No. He sped up and they jumped out of the way seconds before impact. However less than a block later someone fires three rounds into my car. I was most outraged they would do such a thing.

Carrie: *grins* Sam assured him they didn’t mean for him to take it personally.

Jenna: *eyes Trent* You don’t look like the type who would put up with such sassiness.

Trent: You wouldn’t believe all the crap I put up with. But if you must know, I promised my father, on his death bed, that I would never fire Sam.

Jenna: Why did your father request such a thing?

Trent: *huffs* I don’t know. My father lived by the rule that a Lancaster never has to explain himself.

Jenna: And you’ve no idea? Have you asked Sam? He might know.

Trent: I’m sure he does. But hell will freeze over before I admit to him I’ve no clue why I can’t fire him. He’s diabolical enough as is.

Jenna: Wow, look at the time. Time to wrap this up. Carrie it was an absolute pleasure to meet you.

Trent: What about me?

Jenna: I was getting there. Trent, you weren’t nearly as impossible as I expected.

Carrie: He’s getting much better. You must remember Worst Week Ever is only a single week. I think Trent has shown remarkable improvement in such a short time. I have great hopes that once we get some happy hard working employees, he’ll become the best boss ever.

Jenna: Good luck with that. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Worst Week Ever_1600x2400

Worst Week Ever

by Liza O’Connor

New Adult, Humor, Contemporary

BLURB

What do you get when you put a hardworking, can-do middle-class young woman together with a egotistical, outrageous, billionaire boss, then throw in the worst week of disasters imaginable?

Book 1 of the 3 book series A Long Road to Love.

Worst Week Ever.

Trent Lancaster spends one month without his Executive Assistant, or as his drivers refers to Carrie: ‘Trent’s brain, left hand, and right hand’. He’s had a miserable month without her at his side and to ensure it never happens again, he intends to marry his brilliant beauty. Only given all the times he’s threatened to fire her, he’s not sure she even likes him. However, the future of his company and his happiness depend upon him succeeding, so Trent begins a slow one week seduction that happens to coincide with Carrie’s Worst Week Ever when everything that can go wrong does so in hilarious form.

(Hilarious to the reader–Carrie is not having much fun this week.)

EXCERPT

Closing his eyes, Trent enjoyed the pleasure of Carrie’s body pressed against his.

His eyes popped open in horror. Oh God, David’s right. I am besotted.

What the hell was he thinking?

Statistically, his relationships never lasted more than a month and they always ended badly. A billionaire who couldn’t make a relationship last more than a month. How horrible did he have to be to chase off women who had a billion reasons to stick it out?

If he became involved with his most valuable employee, in a month, she’d dump him and quit. Then his business would collapse into chaos and he’d finally prove his father right. The old man constantly claimed Trent was a worthless human being and the world’s worst businessman.

And then Carrie arrived and single-handedly saved his company. She never gave up. If one solution failed, she’d find another way to resolve the problem.

He smiled at his sleeping EA. If anyone could make him into a better man, it would be her. Carrie could solve any problem, had the patience of a saint, and the determination of a pit bull. Best of all, she loved a challenge.

The Next Big Thing Blog Hop

This is a great way to find new authors and books out there. My thanks to Lauren Smith for inviting me to join. Here’s my Next Big Thing!

Betrothal with Logo1: What is the title of your book?
Betrothal

2: Where did the idea come from for the book?
I saw a History Channel program on the Bubonic Plague (which had always fascinated me) and how no one, not even the nobility was spared.  That gave me the germ for the story.

3: What genre does your book come under?
Medieval Romance

4: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Clive Owen as Geoffrey, Jennifer Lawrence as Alyse, and Bradley Cooper as Thomas.Geoffrey(1)

5: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
When an arranged marriage lights the flame of passion in the wrong man, Alyse must choose whether to fight against her fate or learn to love another.

6: Is your book self-published, published by an independent publisher, or represented by an agency?
It is self-published through my own publishing company, Rising Phoenix Publications.

7: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
The very first draft took me six months.  But then it was 187K words. LOL  It’s a bit shorter now.

8: What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
Probably to Kathleen Woodiwiss’s The Wolf and the Dove and Everlasting, or Jo Beverley’s Lord of My Heart.

9: Who or what inspired you to write this book?
I took the inspiration of the program by the History Channel and my reading of Kathleen Woodiwiss’s Everlasting, did some research about the period surrounding 1348 and just started writing.

10: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
The three novellas that make up the book, Time Enough to Love, don’t always follow the7992408_m unwritten rules of romance, especially Books 2 & 3, Betrayal and Beleaguered.  The characters make some very different choices than most romance heroes and heroines, so there is an additional edge to the novellas that may excite or offend readers.  We’ll see when Book 2 comes out.

Betrothal is on sale at Amazon for .99 through the month of July!  And here’s an excerpt to whet your appetite:

Excerpt:

He kissed her hand and wound her arm through the crook of his as he led her away from the chapel toward Princess Joanna’s apartments. Although she was loath to admit it, his words, as well as his attentions, had soothed her ruffled feelings. She smiled inwardly to think that his regard for her ran so deep. A quick peek at him from lowered lids showed her his countenance bore a smile also. They seemed to have come far in but two days’ time.

As they approached the door of the Princess’s chamber, he turned and took both her hands. “My lady, I have news that I would share with you.”

He seemed both solemn and excited by whatever message he had brought. It had to be news indeed, for she had heard nothing, either last night or this morning, that would touch upon them. This mystery so bemused her that she almost failed to see him lean down, bringing his mouth mere inches from hers. She gasped, snatched her hands from his and ducked around him before he could draw closer.

“Would you share something else besides news, Sir Geoffrey?”

“That I would, little maid.” He spun around before she could back away. He darted his hand out to secure hers again and raised it to his mouth. “It seems, however, that I must be content with this.” He grazed her skin with his lips, skimming over the surface of her flesh with a floating touch that made her shiver. “And with my news. You know the king called for a joust, a Round Table, at Windsor next week to celebrate the princess’s betrothal?”

Alyse nodded and frowned. The mere thought of jousting sent a quiver of dread down her spine. But his statement was hardly news; the court had been preparing for the tournaments for weeks.

“It has been decreed by His Majesty that on the first day the festivities will begin with a procession of ladies and knights of King Arthur’s court, starting at the Tower of London and winding through the town out to the lists. There are to be twenty-five knights on the king’s side who will joust and fight in a pas d’armes. So there needs be twenty-five ladies as well, to escort them to the field.”

She nodded again. “Princess Joanna rides in this procession.” Her part in the festivities had been determined last week. Did he have anything truly new to impart?

“You have been chosen to be one of the ladies.”

Alyse’s mouth dropped open and a thrill coursed through her. “But I am only Princess Joanna’s attendant, Sir Geoffrey. Usually such honors are reserved for the queen and Princess Isabella’s ladies, or the Duchesses and Countesses in the Royal Family. Why did they choose me?”

“Because I am to be one of the knights, and I begged a boon of the king to allow you to be my lady.”

She stared at him in shock, almost unbelieving, though she knew he would not lie about such a thing. To think she owed such an honor to the man she would soon call husband, that he had asked the king himself to grant the favor, made her heart beat an unsteady march in her chest. Alyse parted her lips to thank him when he swooped forward, secured her chin in his hand and kissed her.

Here is a crucial moment between Geoffrey and Alyse who are consummating their relationship.

10425814_mHe lowered his mouth to hers then moved eagerly to hover over her. She pulled him possessively toward her and he tasted of her again.

“’Twill hurt but a moment, my love,” his husky voice rasped in her ear, as he widened the gulf between her thighs with his knee.

Hope you enjoyed another snippet of medieval mischief. LOL  And don’t forget, if you’d like more mischief, Betrothal is currently on sale for .99 at Amazon.
