Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors!
The problem with having two books release back to back is that you never know which one to promote first! But this past week was Only Marriage Will Do‘s release week, so I’ve put up another 10 lines from it.
I’m starting at the beginning of Chapter 2, where Amiable is about to take action against St. Cyr’s claim to Juliet:
Blood roared in Amiable’s ears, as though he stood in the heat of battle. He drew his sword and lunged, aiming to skewer the Frenchman through the stomach. “The law will matter not at all if you are dead, St. Cyr.”
St. Cyr grasped the knob of his walking stick and pulled a thin blade free just in time to parry the thrust. He then scampered for the door, calling out in English, “This is not the end of this, Juliet. I will return with the authorities and make you see reason.”
As the viscount fled the room, Amiable scrambled after him.
“Let him go.” Juliet tugged his arm.

Interesting ending to the confrontation, all very dramatic and leaving much to be resolved later, which I enjoy! Great snippet, how lovely to have two books out so close together! Congratulations!

It is a happy pain in the butt to have two releases back-to-back, but hey, go with the flow. And look at it this way, the books are going to be out there for a long, long time, so there’s plenty of time to spend on all of them in turns.

I love the names here. Amiable is… well, hardly amiable. And St. Cyr…. not very saintly…. Quite the scene you’ve presented.

LOL! But it’s true, Ed. If you do more for one than for the other you hear them whispering, “Mom always liked you best.” LOL

Neither of them are giving her up without a fight! Amiable in particular seems like he’s cruising for trouble, if he doesn’t get that passionate temper and thirst for blood under control.

That describes Amiable to a tee, Carrie-Anne. He didn’t enjoy being an officer in the Army for nothing. 🙂
