Special Guest Blogger Today: Dakota from Emily Dahill, CID

I am so pleased to have on Jenna’s Journal today an extra special guest blogger:  Dakota from the Emily Dahill series.  I am a longtime fan of collies, so having Dakota here today is like a dream come true.  And from the title of his post, I think we may be in for some soul-searching from this remarkable canine.

Confessions From a Collie Hero

Folks, I’ll have to make this fast because Emily, you know her, Special Agent Emily Dahill, is due back soon and she hates it when I use the computer. Heck, she thinks I’m talking with my girlfriends in Scotland. Yeah, well she could be right. Okay, so maybe once or twice, a day. But she’s on it all the time talking to her fiancée, Jarrod. I ask you, is that fair or what.

Anyway, what I’d love to know is the why? Why is this series named after her. I mean really, Emily Dahill, CID Series. Talk about anemic. It’s got no oomph, no pizzazz. The name just sits there like a steaming pile of poop on a cold day.

Look at the stories, who gets the best lines. Her. But, who catches the bad guy? Me. And not only do I catch the bad guys or at least point out they had snuck into the area but I get the best and biggest fish. And what are my thanks, a can of dog food and dry kibbles. While she gets? Steak. Oh sure, she might toss me a bone now and then, pun intended, but only when she remembers to get the steak with one.

Let’s look again at the series title. Emily Dahill, CID Series. Well, what about Emily Dahill and Dakota Series. I mean, really, I do at least half the work so shouldn’t I get half credit. Big deal, I’m on the cover of the first book but no one knows that’s me much less that I’m the hero. Heck, I had a few blog friends even ask why I wasn’t on the cover. Once they realized I was the cute one with the fur, long nose and soft brown eyes they understood.

And the stories. Is there just once my name is mentioned in the title? NO. It’s Dog this or Dog that. Come on Emily, let’s give credit where credit is due. Doesn’t she know that there are collies and the rest are just dogs. To my highly advanced collie brain she is trying to disparage my breed, of which I might add there are more books and movies about the collie than any other breed.

And look at the newest story. If nothing else she should have called the Christmas story something like A Kebi Christmas or Kebi’s Miracle. To call it A Dog Gone Christmas, yeah it’s a sweet title and there’s a collie puppy on the cover but let’s give credit where credit is due, to Mom, and I might add the bestest mom in the world, next to Alison and even I’ll admit it Emily, at time.

Oops, got to go, I just heard Emily come up the drive and I don’t want her catching me writing this. She gets a little testy when I talk about her behind her back.

And here’s the blurb for my soon to be released book.

A Body in the Attic

Special Agent Emily Dahill, Dakota along with her team of technicians are sent to Master Sergeant Annabelle Carlyle’s Victorian style house for what they think is a simple break-in. What they find however, turns out to be even more ominous and far-reaching.

A secret passageway leads to a mysterious gunshot. When the prime suspect is cleared they still have no clue who the shooter is, or why. Could the shooter be the same individual who took a shot at Dakota?

Add into the mix the FBI and their unexpected involvement in the case.

Soon they learn the break-in had been a cover-up for a more nefarious crime. One that involves Emily’s nemesis, the brown-haired man, and millions of dollars being sent to terrorists.

Will they solve the case before the money disappears forever and more bodies turn up? Not even the inestimable Dakota is sure.

Thank you so much Dakota and Lindsay, for sharing the collie perspective with me and my readers today.  Congratulations on all your books and especially on the up-coming release  A Body in the Attic.  Sounds like a winner to me.

Right, Dakota?  LOL

Coming soon to an eBook store near you-

Guest Blogger: Skye Warren Hits Hard with Below the Belt

Today I’d like to welcome Skye Warren, author of Below the Belt, an erotic contemporary romance involving the martial arts.

WARNING:  CONTAINS R-RATED EXCERPT, 18+ AND OLDER ONLY

When An Alpha Hero Submits

It seems like most romance books have an alpha hero. And why not? They’re delicious. I like a man who’s strong and protective and maybe a little coarse. But just because they’re in control outside of bed, doesn’t mean they have to be the dominant ones in it. In fact, I think it takes a special kind of confidence for a strong, manly man to submit to his soft, sweet woman. Oh, and plus it’s really hot.

What do I mean by submitting?

–          Providing service, with his hands and his mouth and whatever else he can think of.                Really, who doesn’t want their guy doing this?

–          Listening to his lover’s requests, whether they be voiced or just implicit

–          Taking it a step further, allowing his body to be used by her, however she wants,                    whenever she wants.

Abe, the hero from my martial arts erotic romance, Below the Belt is one such man. On the outside, he’s a Taekwondo champion, slated to win gold at the National tournament. He’s always ready to defend his friends or his school, even if that means fighting. Especially if it means fighting.

But our heroine, Paris, doesn’t need a guy ordering her around in bed. She’s still wary after a bad experience with her ex-boyfriend who didn’t want to let her go. No, she wants to be in control for a change.

In this scene, Paris and Abe have just spent the night cuddling, not sexing, but that’s about to change when Paris noticed a certain tent in the sheets.

She goes out on a limb, and asks for what she really wants. She wants to see Abe get himself off.

Thankfully, Abe obliges.

Excerpt from Below the Belt:

Groaning, he shut his eyes. He rolled down the sheet and then, slowly, pushed his boxers down his thighs. Her own breath hitched then.

His cock stood proudly, long and dark, like the rest of him. The muscles around it on his lower abs and down his thighs were sculpted, strong. All that power should be scary, or intimidating at least. Instead, she felt strong. He was lying there, exposed, fisting his cock for her pleasure. He’d made himself vulnerable to her.

The scent of his arousal wafted to her, and her mouth watered. She’d gone down on a guy before. Her boyfriend had pushed her head down to his groin until she had no choice but to put it in her mouth. It hadn’t tasted good, but she hadn’t really expected it to. She’d just put that on her list of things she did to do please other people.

But Abe definitely wasn’t pushing her. Instead, he was stroking his cock slowly, his eyes pinned to hers. She shifted her legs on the bed, rubbing them together, trying to ease the ache there. As if he knew what she was doing, his lids lowered with arousal. She licked her lips—his parted.

“I want to taste you,” she whispered.

He groaned. “Please.”

And she knew he’d let her. More importantly, he’d let her stop whenever she wanted, without questioning her or guilting her into continuing.

Biting her lip, she maneuvered herself lower on the bed. She pulled his boxers all the way off, careful not to jostle his knee. Kneeling between his legs, she looked up at him.

“How is your knee feeling?”

He gave a pained laugh. “I swear I can’t even feel it right now.”

Paris smiled slowly. She grasped his cock at the base and stroked it, enjoying the way his dark, satiny skin rolled under her hands. Pre-cum glistened at the tip. She pumped her hands up and down until his hips were thrusting up to the same rhythm. Then she stopped. His eyes pleaded with her and his nostrils flared, but he said nothing, did nothing but wait for her.

She touched a light kiss to the tip. Her tongue sneaked out between her lips. He tasted tangy, salty, sweet, and she wanted more. Her mouth circled the head of his cock with her tongue pressed against the tip. She didn’t try to take him deeply at all—she just wanted to taste him, to hold him in her mouth. Her hand started a steady pumping motion, up and down.

“Oh, God.” He half-laughed, half-groaned. “It’s so good. You have to wait. Please. I want to be inside you. I have to make you come.”

She paused with her hand on his cock, and her mouth closed over the tip. She considered ignoring him. He’d let her finish him if that’s what she really wanted.

“Please.” All his muscles were locking up, tense. “I’m too close. Have to make it good for you. Have to.” He whispered the last, shuddering.

One commenter will win a copy of Below the Belt and get more steamy, submissive action from Abe. So tell me, what do you think about alpha guys taking orders in bed? And more importantly, what service would you like Abe to perform?

Thank you again, Skye, for that fantastic post and excerpt.  You can find Below the Belt at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, All Romance E-Books, Bookstrand, Smashwords, Kobo, and Goodreads.  You can find Skye Warren and her buy links at her blog Dark Erotica.

Horny Hump Day 1/25/12: Hog Wild

Horny Hump Day Wednesday!

WARNING:  MATERIAL NOT SUITABLE FOR THOSE UNDER THE AGE OF 18!

I’m back once more, with another set of steamy sentences to wake you up!  Each Wednesday, participating authors will post three sentences from their published works or WIP, or from a work of classic literature hot enough to make you spontaneously combust!  Links to other participating authors can be found below.

This week I’m putting up three HOT sentences from my first erotic contemporary romance, Hog Wild.  Be forewarned!

Seducing bikers Beau and Rob Hogue and commandeering their Harleys is easy for Lula Wolfendale; finding sexual satisfaction isn’t.  Can their older brother Jesse fill the bill? In a sexual contest for his Phantom motorcycle, will Lula emerge with a bike to die for or the climax of her dreams?.

Jesse continued relentlessly down her body. When he squeezed her butt, she moaned in pleasure and pain. He traced one finger down the crack of her ass, trailed it across her tightly puckered asshole, and then plunged lower, into her already slippery slit.

Have a Horny Happy Hump Day!

You can also check out the Horny Hump Day blog site.  It gives the details of how to sign up for next week if you’d like to play with us. 🙂 And gives you the other links to hop to.

Thanks so much for visiting the Journal for Horny Hump Day.  I’d love for you to leave a comment, or even a few sexy sentences from your own work.  I do appreciate comments!

Be sure to come back next Wednesday–we’ll keep Hump Day humming! 🙂

Favorite Character Blogfest

I just saw this blog hop on a dear friend’s blog and thought it a fantastic idea!  Showcase your favorite character (from your own writing) to everyone with a snippet from your work.

The blogfest runs from January 23-25.Here’s how it works:

1. Decide which of your characters you’d like to introduce everyone to, and choose a snippet about this character (preferably no more than 200 words) to share about this character. (A snippet from your manuscript would be awesome, but if you’re not comfortable with that, you can choose to do a character sketch–something to show us your character and writing.)

2. Between January 23-25, tell us who your favorite character you’ve written is and why and post your snippet.

3. Hop around to other participants to check out their favorite characters and a bit of their story.

My favorite character is one only a few of you may have met.  He is my very first hero, from my medieval trilogy Time Enough To Love.

Sir Geoffrey Longford is a knight at the court of King Edward III of England in the year of Our Lord 1348.  He has fought for the king for 10 years, since the age of 18, and is an excellent warrior.  He’s recently been betrothed to a girl he’s never met, but whom he intends to woo because he likes her and wants her to like him in return before they marry.

I love Geoffrey because he’s the perfect hero–a strong, skilled, loyal warrior with a soft, passionate side.  He wants his marriage to be more than just an arrangement–especially after he meets Alyce.   And he’s willing to change in order to make this happen.

Below is an unedited snippet from my first novel, being revised this coming summer.

“Are you not coming?”

Geoffrey rose and stretched.  “Nay, Thomas.  I have business to attend to in the morning.  Another time, mayhap.”

With a groan, Thomas left the chamber to Geoffrey, who went to stare out the window at the shadowy trees across the royal park. Thomas’s question still preyed on his mind.  He pondered the way his flesh seemed on fire whenever he touched Alyse, the lightning stab of desire that coursed through him when he caught her eye.   Such feelings were alien, unknown in all his previous dealings with women.  This was different—and disturbing.

He sighed, and thought of the changes that would soon rule his life.  Already ruled it.  His refusal to carouse with Thomas was the first sacrifice.  Geoffrey could match Thomas pace for pace in whatever pastime they favored and this was the first night he had cried off.  Too bad his friend was disappointed, but he had devised a plan to satisfy Alyse’s need for time and wanted to put it into motion at the soonest possible moment.  Which meant an early breakfast was in order.

Click on the button on the right for details on how to join/participate in this hop.  You could win a critique from Melanie Billings, Acquisitions Editor at Whiskey Creek Press and other prizes. 🙂

Thanks so much for coming by and meeting Geoffrey. 🙂

You might also want to stop by Starla Kaye’s Blog today where Pam Kimball, my heroine from Almost Perfect, is being interviewed.  Apparently she’s got a lot to say about her 1Night Stand experience!  Hope you drop by.

Six Sentence Sunday–1/22/12 Only Scandal Will Do

Welcome back to Six Sentence Sunday!  I want to thank everyone, once again, for their great support each week.  I do appreciate your visits and look forward to each comment with anticipation.  I also look forward to visiting your sites and reading your wonderful stories.

Once again I’m following up my six from last week with the next six sentences  from Only Scandal Will Do.

If you remember, Duncan has just purchased a woman in a brothel auction and has come to claim his prize.  His “slave” however, continues to insist there has been a mistake.  He has managed to turn the tables on the lady and called her virtue into question.

“House of Pleasure?” she squeaked.

“Where else would such a thing occur?” The man’s amusement seemed to deepen at her indignation. “And there will certainly be pleasure here tonight, slave.”

He ran a slow hand down her arm, the fingers trailing silkily against her bare flesh. Her mouth agape at such a liberty, she slapped the hand away and ran for the door.

A feisty lady, wouldn’t you say?  But I don’t think he’s done with her yet.

If you’d like to read more about Kat’s plight, check out my post from yesterday and come back next week for another six sentence installment.

Thanks once more for visiting Six Sentence Sunday.  Click the SSS to try out more author snippets.  You’ll be glad you did!

Sweet Saturday Sample–1/21 Only Scandal Will Do

Welcome back to Sweet Saturday Sample!  All excerpts here are rated PG-13 or milder.  Mine today, from my soon to be released historical romance, is rated PG-13.

In this section Lady Katarina has been kidnapped and is being taken to an unknown location for unknown nefarious purposes.

The nightmare ride bumped to a halt at last. Katarina had a moment to be grateful for the stillness before the door crashed open and a kidnapper seized her ankles. She struggled to wrench them away but her abductor resolutely dragged her from the carriage and slung her over the other kidnapper’s shoulder. From this precarious position, she twisted about, gaining a brief glimpse of a short, dark-haired woman, who opened the door of a gray clapboard building.

A curt nod, then the woman lit their way with a single yellow candle down a shadowy corridor. Opening a door at the far end, she lifted the brass candlestick high to examine Katarina’s outfit, then cocked her head. The woman’s features were stark in the harsh light: ghostly white skin, delicate dark brows puckering over a petite nose, and a dark red mouth pursed. Uncommon beauty coupled with cruel detachment. Turning away she called, “Marco! Change into the Roman costume now!”

A snarled reply from the dim hallway caused the woman to step toward the surly voice. “You’ll do it or I’ll turn your pretty face over to Nigel.” The discordant sound of the soft, menacing voice sent a chill racing down Katarina’s spine. The dark-haired woman thrust the candlestick at the other kidnapper and rushed off, her full skirts swishing.

Hope you enjoyed my sample of Only Scandal Will Do!  I’ve got more sentences for you tomorrow and I’ll be back next week as well.

Be sure to click here for more Sweet Samples.  You’ll be glad you did!

(Almost) Perfect Review!

I opened an email today and was stunned to find a 5 star review for Almost Perfect from Ronda Tutt at Queen Tutt’s World of Escapism.

I’m going to share some highlights here, then give you the link if you wish to read the whole review.  She begins with the title “Breathtaking and Hot!”

“What a beautiful story!  The story captivated me immediately as the story came alive on the page; it was as if I was watching a movie with the visually enhanced descriptions.  The author’s smooth writing captured the characters emotions and feeling beautifully and had me feeling them as if I was one of the characters myself.”

High praise for any writer.  She makes me feel like I really did my job right in this book, with the help of my wonderful editor, Valerie Mann at Decadent Publishing.

“As I write this review I am still wiping the tears from my eyes thinking about the sadness and then crying even more for the happiness I felt in the end as I hug the book (my e-reader).  The story will take you on an emotional roller-coaster…”

Again, I feel I accomplished my goal–this is exactly how I wanted the reader to experience the twists and turns of Almost Perfect.  (Well, I didn’t expect tears, but hey, I’ll take them!)

And she ends with “This is one book you have to read.  Excellent Read!”

Please click on the link to Queen Tutt’s World of Escapism to read the rest of the review.  But I do have a warning:  Ms. Tutt’s blog site graphics are definitely R-rated.  Don’t open this at work, in front of children, or the elderly. LOL

Thank you again, Ronda.  You made my day! 🙂

This week I’m putting up three sentences from my soon to be released historical romance, Only Scandal Will Do.

Lady Katarina Fitzwilliam has just been purchased at auction by a masked man.  She explains her circumstances and the man offers to protect her.  But to her astonishment,  he kisses her instead.

All she wanted was his hands on her, his tongue in her. Of its own accord, her tongue thrust into him, bringing a growl of approval that encouraged her to frenzied explorations of his warm, wet mouth. His hand slid down to rest on the swell of her breast, an impudent finger nudging inside the gown’s low décolletage to brush against her aching nipple.

Reader Rally Blog Hop 1/17-1/31/12

What better way to fight off the mid-winter blues (here in the US anyway) than a super great Reader Rally Blog Hop!  Books are what makes the world go ’round for us and for the next two weeks, my blog and lots more like it, are offering fantastic book giveaways!

My most recent release Almost Perfect, part of Decadent Publishing’s 1Night Stand series, fits perfectly with the beach theme depicted in the Hop Logo.  Almost Perfect takes place
on a deserted–well, almost deserted–island.  What better place to kick back, read, or fall in love.

Blurb for Almost Perfect:

Pamela Kimball’s birthday present, a 1Night Stand adventure, promises jump-start her life, put a new man in her bed, and help her forget her past.  Unfortunately, movie-buff Pam’s Pirates of the Caribbean fantasy takes an alarming wrong turn when she’s abandoned on a not quite deserted island—with ex-husband Roger Ware.

Forced by hunger to accept Roger’s offer of dinner,  Pam realizes the geek she married has transformed into one of the most charming, sexiest men she’s ever met. His newfound confidence—and hot body—re-kindles old fires.  A simple kiss leads Roger to challenges her to discover how much his lovemaking skills have improved, leaving Pam torn between self-preservation and burning desire.

With time running out before they’re rescued, Pam must decide if her heart can survive the consequences of becoming Roger’s “almost” perfect 1Night Stand.

If you like erotic contemporary, you might just like my Fractured Fairytale re-telling of the Three Little Pigs called Hog Wild.

Blurb for Hog Wild:

When Lula Wolfendale’s motorcycle breaks down on her way to a Harley rally, she makes a detour into tiny Shoshone, CA to find a replacement.  Seducing biker Beau Hogue and commandeering his Harley is easy; finding sexual satisfaction is a “hog” of a different color.  A Blue Phantom, to be exact, owned by Beau’s older brother Jesse.  After brief, unsatisfying encounters with Jesse’s younger brothers, Lula approaches Jesse with a proposition:  a sexual battle for his Phantom, where Lula will emerge with either a bike to die for or the climax of her dreams.  Or is there a way for her to obtain both?

Or if you like something very different, you might want to check out my historical romance Heart of Deception, from Books To Go Now.

Blurb for Heart of Deception:

Celinda Graham—young, naïve, passionate—is head-over-heels in love with Andrew Finley, Viscount Hurston and insists on marrying him. Unfortunately, Andrew’s family has been feuding with Celinda’s for generations.  When her father refuses to allow the marriage, Andrew proposes a scandalous way to get his approval.  But Andrew has a secret that may spell disaster to his plans if Celinda finds out he is not what he seems.

For the Reader’s Rally Blog Hop Giveaway I’m offering one (1) copy of each of my published titles listed above.  So three lucky winners will come away with some romance reading for the month of February.

To be entered in the Jenna’s Journal Giveaway please leave me a comment on this post telling me your all-time favorite romance read.  (Be sure to include your email address so I can contact you if you win.)  Then go to Facebook and “like” my author page and Follow me on Twitter.  Easy as that!

Once you’ve done that, simply click the Reader Rally button to your right and it will take you to the Linky List for the rest of the Blog Hop stops.

All my published works are available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and All Romance E-book as well as the publisher websites.  To purchase via publisher, please click book cover to the right.
