HAPPY RELEASE DAY!

Unmask Me My Love, book 3 in The Matchmaker’s Ball series, releases today! Go grab your copy here!
If you remember, The Matchmaker’s Ball series is a reboot of a sweet series I published 10+ years ago called Handful of Hearts. Unmask Me My Love is the reboot of Heart of Delight, a quirky sort of Cinderella story with some really quirky characters.

In this reboot, I’ve not only added some steamy love scenes, but also a rather nasty character gets their comeuppance, which tickled both my editor and me.
The premise for this book dates back to 2009 when I was writing my very first book, Time Enough to Love. As I wrote that book (and the first draft took me six months) I kept having ideas for other books and of course, I kept a list of all those ideas. Over the years a lot of them have come to be written. The idea of a Cinderella-esque story took shape and this is how that little blurb originally read:
MASQUERADE: Penniless companion to Countess (aunt) goes to masquerade ball, eligible Duke falls in love with her; she leaves; he seeks her in society, can’t find her; about to marry another, discovers her?
Quite different from the current blurb, but the kernel of it is still there:
He’ll do anything for the woman he loves…except tell the truth.
Gabriella d’Aventure is a young woman on a mission. She has come to England as a lady’s maid in single-minded pursuit of the Duke of Rother. When she meets Horace Carpenter, valet to a marquess, she is delighted to enlist his aid in gaining her heart’s desire: a meeting with the duke. But will her growing feelings for the handsome valet interfere with her plans for Rother?
The eccentric Marquess of Halford, Hal to his friends, is fed up with the demands of Society, especially his father’s decree that he marry this Season. To that end, Hal hides out at Lady Hamilton’s ball, refusing to choose a bride. However, when a breathtaking young woman intrudes on his solitude, Hal is instantly captivated and rashly introduces himself as his valet and offers his help. Despite his growing fear about the true motive behind Gabriella’s quest to meet the duke, Hal devises a plain to her gain an audience with him, all the while praying his deception won’t ruin his chances of winning her love.
So instead of being at a masquerade ball, the marquess is in disguise as his valet, which I quite liked. I love quirky characters and the Marquess of Halford is one of my favorites!

To celebrate this auspicious occasion, I’m giving away a signed print copy of Unmask Me My Love, and a $20 Amazon gift card to random commenters on this blog post.
