HAPPY RELEASE DAY!

10 Things I Hate About the Earl, book 2 in The Matchmaker’s Ball series, releases today! Go grab your copy here!
If you remember, The Matchmaker’s Ball series is a reboot of a sweet series I published 10+ years ago called Handful of Hearts. 10 Things is the reboot of Heart of Desire, a fun Taming of the Shrew-esque story with some really wonderful banter between the hero and heroine. One of the best reviews the novella ever got said they wished the book was longer because they wanted to see more of Kate and Marcus’s courtship.

Well, now in the reboot, I’ve done that, giving the H/h several excursions in which to spar and fall in love. I’ve also given Marcus a new impetus to win Kate over: a list of things she hates about him. This idea took hold after I changed the title of the book. I was looking for something that hinted at the enemies to lovers trope, and I remembered the old movie 10 Things I Hate About You, a modern retelling of Taming of the Shrew. So I changed a couple of words and had that “Eureka!” moment when I decided to have Kate actually make a list–and let Marcus find it.
I have truly loved rewriting this story and I hope you love it as well. Those of you who read the original be ready for a lot more action–and a LOT more steam! Still, I think you will enjoy this version quite a lot.
If you are on TikTok, I just posted a video of the book’s birthday celebration. I’m @jennajaxon1 and you should find it pretty quickly. And the book will be coming out in print shortly and will be distributed wide by the end of the week.

To celebrate this auspicious occasion, I’m giving away a signed print copy of 10 Things I Hate About the Earl, and a $20 Amazon gift card to random commenters on this blog post.
10 Things I Hate About the Earl is now available on Amazon for just .99! Celebrate its release by grabbing your e-copy today!

Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes. There is so many great moments for sexual tension and intellectual gamesmanship when we’ll matched enemies are paired together. I’m definitely going to grab this while I can! Congratulations!

I loved the movie 10 Things I Hate About You. Julia Stiles is the best. This sounds fun to add Shakespeare to the mix.

It looks like I’m in the minority, but I, personally, did not like The Taming of the Shrew. I know, I know. Everything Shakespeare should be exulted, but I just had a hard time plowing through it.
For that reason, it would be very interesting to see one of my favorite author’s treatment of it. It sounds fun!

Happy Book Birthday! The Taming of the Shrew is one of my favorite Shakespeare plays – also the musical version Kiss Me Kate. Curious to read how you present the relationship of the main characters.

Not having read the first iteration of the book, I won’t be able to notice any changes, but something loosely based on Taming of the Shrew should be a fun read.
