Welcome back to the Weekend Writing Warriors again. I’m so enjoying seeing my old friends and finding new authors. Hope you all have a great hop!
Today you get more from Betrothal, my medieval romance set in the 14th century. These sentences show what Alyse has been doing while Geoffrey is having his crisis ( if you want to see what happened up to this point, check out yesterday’s post from Sweet Saturday) If you’d like to catch up, you can read some of the posts from a previous week here. In this snippet, Alyse, Princess Johanna and her waiting women are about to take a walk when they are interrupted.
She could hardly wait for the evening meal when she would meet with her betrothed again and tell him her choice. Anticipating his reaction would keep her thoughts occupied until then. Oh, pray he would be pleased!
“Now, ladies.” Princess Joanna rose, prompting the others to do likewise. “After this flurry of excitement I think I would like to walk in the gardens a while before it becomes overly warm.” The young princess started for the door, Maurya, Alyse and Anne following in her wake. An attendant opened the door and the ladies stopped their progress at the sight of Geoffrey Longford standing in the doorway, his eyes wide in surprise.
If you want more, please come back next week! 🙂 Right now, you can click here to hop on to more Writing Warrior posts! And thanks for coming by!

This reminded me of a line from “The Godfather” when Sonny is concerned about Michael walking out of the restroom…

He didn’t expect the door to open just then, did he? I love these little moments of mutual surprise in a story!

That’s sure a cliffhanger moment! Seems like both sides would be surprised by the other’s presence. But where does that surprise lead to? Hmmm.

Yes, and then? Geoffrey doesn’t visit for no reason so I’m wondering??

I wonder why he’s so surprised. Could it be he has a past with one of these other ladies?
