I am extraordinarily pleased to welcome Casea Major to Jenna’s Journal today, with my very first author interview. I’ve featured Casea’s other works here, but never got to ask her some of the questions I think readers and writers would like to know the answers to.
First, I want to thank you for coming here today Casea. Always a pleasure to have you or your work on the blog. First, please tell us a little bit about your soon-to-be released work, Night With A Dom.
I came up with the idea for this 1Night Stand story while watching football one Sunday afternoon in late fall. I wondered what kind of catalyst would propel someone into experimenting with their darker sexual desires. What would cause someone to take a small step out of their comfort zone to seek fulfillment for a craving they’d never satisfied. That is how Night with a Dom was born.
A small step, you say? Hmmm. Sounds like a giant step if you ask me. 🙂 What was your inspiration for the story?
My main inspiration was Mad Men and specifically, the smooth-as-50-year-old scotch Don Draper.
I’ve seen trailers for the series and if he’s that tall, suave, hot as three hells guy in the commercials, I understand how he could inspire you.
I’m a writer to whom names of characters have always held a special significance. In your last 1NS, One Knight in Brooklyn, your hero and heroine had names suggestive of the Robin Hood legend. Are the character names in Night With A Dom special?
The names in this story are significant in a couple of ways. Dominic is the Dom in the story but also all the characters last names have something significant in common and I’m giving away a prize for anyone who buys the book and can email me with the correct answer.
Oooh, now that’s the kind of challenge I love! I’ll be downloading Dom ASAP!
Now for a couple of questions about your writing process. Do you write multiple stories at one time, or do you need to finish one before moving on to the next?
I usually focus on one story at a time but I always have several in various stages.
Who has been the greatest influence on your writing? My critique partners.
What was the first romance author and book you read? Victoria Holt, she was the greatest.
Now this question is sort of a cheat on my part because I already know the answer. But your readers might not. Who is your favorite romance hero and heroine (don’t have to be a couple) and why? What qualities do they possess that make them memorable?
Yes, Jenna, you know the answer to this question because we’ve talked about it before. Jamie Fraser of the Outlander Series is literary perfection. I aspire to write such a hero. What makes Jamie memorable? His words/actions. The descriptions of him make him so real. I honestly believe if I saw him walking down the street I would recognize him. That’s how vividly he is written.
If you could have one wish granted just for you (not world peace, LOL), what would you wish for? Lifelong health for me and my family.
What is the most exciting/daredevil thing you’ve ever done? Queried agents.
LOL, Casea. I think I have to agree with you there. Querying agents makes skydiving seem tame.
Now a few questions just for fun:
What is your favorite amusement park ride? Pirates of the Caribbean
Tea or coffee? Both, depends on the day. Tea has been a part of my life forever and I began drinking coffee as a young teen—I like it black.
French manicure or color (and if color, what color)? French on my fingers and bright fusica or purple on my toes
Beach or mountains? Beach
Summer, Spring, Winter, or Fall? Spring
Dominant or Submissive? (Well, it is called Night With A Dom!) Switch
Oooh, now that’s hardly fair, though I bet it’s fun. LOL
Casea has sent along a blurb for Night With A Dom and has told me that one lucky commenter on today’s post will win a copy of her wonderful erotic romantic comedy One Knight in Brooklyn.
Blurb:
Melody Manning’s workaholic ambition, coupled with a slave-driving former boss, has made her the youngest market analyst in her firm. It’s also killed her personal life, including losing her fiancé. When she receives a message from him on New Year’s Eve announcing his engagement to another woman, Mel loses it. Her new, more compassionate boss has the perfect solution for her—get laid. Good and laid.
At his suggestion, she signs up with the 1Night Stand service, listing her deepest sexual desires on the application. A speedy response from Madame Eve has Melody on her way to Sonoma Valley wine country and a one-night stand with a mysterious Dom.
The sexy, masked Master promises to get to the bottom of her guilt and provide ultimate satisfaction under the safety of his stern hand. After an emotional night of submission and uninhibited passion, will her lover’s unmasking lead to the end of their encounter or give Mel another chance at love?
Major Love ~~~ Major Romance
Prior to becoming a writer of romantic fiction, Casea Major worked in the legal field for a non-profit dispute resolution company for ten years. She is now a full-time mom to three preschool children with whom she and her husband live happily…most of the time. When she isn’t chained to her laptop, she enjoys Cary Grant movies and crocheting.
Thank you so much for being my guest on Jenna’s Journal today, Casea. Best of luck on your release and readers, take my advice: take this Dom home tonight!
