The Longest Night of the Year

December 20 thru 23 is the time of the winter solstice, the beginning of winter, time for religious ceremonies of all kinds, and the longest night of the year.

Today I’m guest blogging on The Longest Night of the Year over at the Daily Dose of Decadence blog.  Come on over and visit before it gets dark!

Below is the winter solstice as seen at Newgrange–an ancient burrow in Ireland created to be lit only at the time of the summer and winter solstice.  I’ve actually visited there, though not at the solstice.

  1. I love the solstices. Each has wonderful tradition and a kind of magical feeling. I’ll pop over to Daily Dose and leave you a comment.
