For my first Reader’s Corner I thought I’d try a “Meet the Author” post. Give you more of an idea about the person who is Jenna Jaxon. I got the idea for this particular post from Darlene over at Finding the Write Words with her Friday Favorites post. I thought it a great way for readers to find out a few fun facts about me.
A Few of My Favorite Things
1. Favorite color: Caribbean Blue (I used to have a car this color—yummy!)
2. Favorite Romance Author and Book: Jo Beverly’s Devilish (although Something Wicked is a close second)
3. Favorite Non-Romance Author and Book: Stephen King’s It (Drawing of the Three is a close second)
4. Favorite Pleasure Food: Chocolate (it’s my drug of choice)
5. Favorite Mixed Drink: Miami Vice (cross between a strawberry daiquiri and a pina
colada)
6. Favorite Movie: (Tough Question!) Last of the Mohicans (Daniel Day Lewis—May I help you please!)
7. Favorite Actor/Actress: Sean Connery/Sigourney Weaver tied with Glen Close
8. Favorite Place You’ve Visited: Ireland (I’ve kissed the Blarney Stone! This is NOT me!)
9. Favorite Pop Song: Today it’s Loser Like Me (got a rejection); usually it’s Bad Romance
10. Favorite Holiday: Halloween (see answer #3 for explanation)

Hi, Alison. I don’t have a playlist, per se, but usually I have one song I identify with a particular work. Then I’ll put that on repeat and just listen or tune it out and think about the work in question. But it does help. I don’t usually write with music on, but then I’m plotting or just thinking about the book, then music helps quite a lot. Thanks for dropping by, and for the great question!

Great interview! Oh my that drink sounds yummy never had it. I am going to have to order it sometime and try it. Bad Romance by Lady Gaga? Love her songs too. And chocolate? god don’t get me started.

Thanks for the info Jenna. Your tastes vary widely so I have to ask what inspires you with stories? Places? Music? I tend to think of stories all the time so I’m alway curious to see how that happens with other writers.

It really varies for me too, Tony. Sometimes I’ll be reading a book and something is mentioned that gets me to thinking. I was reading Mary Balogh’s A Precious Jewel and the heroine had to become a prostitute to survive. She mentions in passing that her first week was horrible and I started wondering what it would be like to be forced into such a situation and how the experience with that first “customer” would be, and the whole plot for Only A Mistress Will Do unfolded in my head. I’ve also been inspired by songs–I’m getting ready to write an erotic contemporary based on Katy Perry’s song Last Friday Night. And I was visiting a friend once and just looked at him and thought “Now he’s an unlikely hero,” and another book was born.
Sorry about the long answer, but it’s a good question because everyone gets their inspiration differenty. Thanks for asking! 🙂

I love the whole Malloren series! Rothgar just makes me swoon. 🙂 I always go overboard at Halloween (have a great Halloween story to share with everyone this year). My favorite breed has always been the collie. And no, I’m not just sucking up. I loved Lassie as a child (my first dog was named Lassie–not a collie, however). But unfortunately I’ve never owned one. We have a Lab at present.
